I see Usyk comfortably clearing the lot but I’m curious who yall think would give him the toughest fight?

Schemling I’m not sure how he’d do with a southpaw… but if he directed the planning and effort of the Louis fight at Usyk I could see a path to victory, Schemlimg is probably the most underrated HW I can think of.

Of the guys I saw put Usyk in any trouble, one was 6-5, 240 and the other was 6-9 (allegedly) and 280. And both went to the body.

Carnera fits the bill size wise but doesn't have near the skill level of either guys. I'm not even sure how many of his fights were on the level. Baer had the physical tools but none of the schooling.

None of the above should be an option.

Don’t most think Bredis gave Usyk the toughest fight to date? - I haven’t watched that bout in a long time.

I don't remembering him hurting Usyk and that was at 200. Fury and Dubois definitely hurt him. I'll look at the Briedis fight again. He had the goods for sure.

I’d like to see how Usyk approaches Primo’s aggressive grappling tactics from the Loughran fight, I’m sure Carnera’s stronger than Fury and is a more effective wrestler. I heard he was a much more skilled grappler than he was a boxer.

With the right ref and with those mitten-like gloves that make manhandling and rough-housing more effective, maybe it could be pretty interesting. I don’t see Carnera’s chin holding up against Usyk’s power though

He hurt him in the 12th though Usyk pretty much won the round despite that

As for the question Baer and Carnera are too simplistic to ever give Usyk trouble and they wouldn't have the size advantage they normally do. Sharkey was supposedly very skilled at his best but he was past that by the 30s so don't think he'd do much. Process of elimination would be Schmeling he had a tricky style could give Usyk some trouble but feel like Usyk will eventually adapt and knock him out late.

Schmeling had exceptional chin, speed and stamina to offset Usyk's. In a way, they mirror each other as they both share the same key attributes.
Schmeling had better power but Usyk has anywhere from 1-2 inches on him and 25 lbs in weight.
I think in a fifteen rounder Schmeling's right hand gets him a Decision whereas Usyk fairs better in twelve rounds.
If there is a stoppage, it's defo Max taking Alex out late, his stats against durable boxers are pretty incredible.

Schmeling makes the most well structured, technical and perfect fight plan in history

Max knocks him out late, becomes the new champion, and loses instantly to someone like Chisora

Sharkey at his best is the only one who can compete w him and his pace imo. People tend to remember the old Sharkey but the Sharkey who was beating Dempsey before getting caught was a patient strong fighter. Could fight inside and out.
