Did Golden Boy have 9/15 first with their planed Alvarez/Williams bout? When Williams got hurt did they give this date up? With no oppoent for Alvarez and Top Rank having inked Martinez/Chavez do they now have the best clime to the date? Is Top Rank gambeling that Golden Boy won't find an oppoent for Alvarez and move his fight to another date? It's unlikely that either side will budge. However, dose it make busness sense for either side to have competing events on the same night, in the same city. Not only competing for fans, but also PPV sales? If you were deciding on who got the date who would pick. Golden Boy? With or without an oppoent for Alvarez they did have this date first. Top Rank? Unlike Golden Boy. They have a bout under contract. Both keep the date? Let the best promotion win?
Having 2 big boxing events on the same date on the same city will hurt both promoters (and fans too). Let them do that and let's see who emerges least hurt.
Just look up the threads you ignored before making this one. This is at least the third thread on the subject. BigReg had the first.
All those ego battles is what's wrong with the whole sport of boxing. We need a boxing league or commission ASAP!
