I put my list on a thread the other day about the three best chins of the heavyweights and my list was: Marciano Holyfield Foreman But then i was watching Bowe vs Golota 1 and 2 and rememberd that Bowe could take a hell of a lot of punishment too so who had a better chin? Marciano was knocked down twice. Once by Jersey Joe Walcott and once by Archie Moore Bowe was only knocked down three times . Once by Holyfield and twice by Andrew Golota.
I would put bowes chin some way behind ali, holmes, foreman, holyfeild, mccall, schmeling. also walcott, charles, tyson, Baer, chuvalo, uzcadun. I would say bowes whiskers were fair but no better or worse than joe frazier and joe louis's chins. bowe had a better chin than micheal moorer and floyd patterson though.
Bowe said H. Hide him him the hardest. I would say that Holy and Golota hit a little harder than Walcott and Moore, but its close.
No real way of telling to be honest.. You have two men who were never stopped in a combined 90+ fights and who both took large amounts of punishment.. Marciano probably took a higher volume of shots and from more accurate skilled fighters in longer scheduled fights, while Bowe may have been hit by harder men, so their durability was tested in different ways I suppose.
when I think of Bowe and Marciano I don't even think of them as being in the same weight class. Bowe was just too big for Rocky. Chin? I would pick Rocky.
