Hmmm both don't have impressive competition

Marciano fought old guys then ducked outta boxing at like 32

Wlad fights fighters that are doo doo burgers

    Ezzard X2
    Walcott X2
    Moore

Call me nostalgic, but that's 5 more HOF opponents than Wladimir has stepped into the ring with.

The level of competition is clearly much higher for Wladimir.

Many of the bums that old time legends padded their records with were hardly athletes. They were tough guys who boxed for money and had horrific technique.

Wlad probably fought better fighters in the OLYMPICS than Marciano fought in his career.

Wlad knocks all those little guys the **** out. Way too big, he would hug them and there's nothing they can do about it and then ko them.

heavyweight was more like cruiserweight back then but yeah Marciano clearly had better competition Charles is considered by many the best light heavyweight in history and Walcott and Moore were great fighters. Really like how Walcott fights good video if you want to watch.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opAJBr9G9MY

Marciano's best wins pre-tiitle would be Vingo (house NY fighter that Marciano beat in NY) LaStarza (unbeaten at the time and a great prospect) unbeaten puncher Rex Layne and probably Harry Matthews, who was just too small for Marciano.

Wlad beat WBO champ Byrd, Botha (past it) Mercer (past it) McCline, Sanders (lost) Brewster (lost) and his best win pre-title (imo) against unbeaten puncher Peter.

I don't really see an edge to either guy, aside that Marciano beat everyone pre-title and Wlad picked up losses.

Post title...depends on how you look at it. Certainly Marciano has wins over true HOF fighters (Walcott, Charles, Moore) and another good win over LaStarza. The only soft defence was against ****ell, who was selected because Marciano's management wanted to see how his nose held up after the 2nd Charles fight.
Those HOF'ers had all seen better days though, although Walcott and Charles both in their first fights with Rocky fought extremely well.

Wlad's best...Byrd, Brock, Ibragimov, Thompson, Haye, Peter, Chagaev and Chambers were all decent to good wins. Some of his latter competition hasn't been good, imo. (Well, Povetkin was, but it was such a horrible fight I tend to think of it as a bad win)

I would give the edge to Wlad, based on the fact that his best wins were against solid fighters that were around their best or not far off it at the time, even if they don't have the illustrious reputation that the three HOF'ers on Marciano's ledger do.

Marciano knocked out Louis, he was good for his day, but he was only 5 feet 10 inches tall and around 185 lbs.........................Vlad would knock out all of Marciano's opponents easily......................I am not taking anything away from Marciano though he was a true warrior, could punch extremely hard for his size and trained harder than anyone around.............

    6. You forgot to add Joe Louis, who was on an 8-fight winning streak when he fought Marciano.

The 33-year-old version of Ezzard Charles that Marciano fought would beat Wlad just like he beat Joe Louis.
