when i was posting on the lopez vs margarito thread i had a thought. "great handspeed, chin and power is very rare thing to have in boxing" what fighter had

    -very fast hands

    -very sturdy chin

    -one punch knock out power

my only examples are tyson, a middle/super middle weight james toney and a young oscar de la hoya.
(im thinking sugar ray robinson, but i dont know too much about him to choose him)

what boxers possessed all three of these qualities?

Tyson was a good call. James Toney had good power but far from great even at MW and SM. So i wouldnt include Toney. ODLH is a good call although his chin seemed to get better as he moved up and his power fell off a little but id include him

Sugar Ray Robinson definitely was the first to come to mind.
    Charley Burley
    Roberto Duran at lightweight
Maybe Shane Mosley not sure if his power is great but damn good
Azumah Nelson at feather:think He had excellent hand speed but probably not great.
Marco Barrera:huh:huh almost at JF but like Nelson excellent but not great hand speed

I guess i could think of a lot of fighters that fit the mold that i mentioned on Barrera,Nelson. So ill stick with Robinson,Burley,ODLH,Tyson.

PS you could make an argument for Aaron Pryor, or Evander at Cruiser.

MAB was pretty damn fast at 122lbs and maybe faster still below that, not ATG speed though

An obvious one here is Pacquaio, Hamed too but not super fast

    Another is Ray Leonard

RIght about Barrera and i forgot he had very good power but not great.

Ray Leonard very good power even underrated but not great power.

Naseem solid chin but i wouldnt say he ever proved it was great.

Pacs chin has seemed to have gotten better as he moved up. I remember Larios (a Jf) hurting him at JL and Larios wasnt known for his power. But ill give you Pac seeing as he has moved up and his chin is sturdy.

PS just remembered at Fly ill have to say Mark Johnson ive seen him many times live at the Forum back in his prime and he had a hell of a chin to go along with a big time punch and great speed. Add him:yep

Jerry Quarry certainly dusted off Bodell with a single right hand (remarkable, considering he was better known for his hook), and was trigger fisted. Deficits in reach, stamina and cut resistance cost him against Ali and Frazier.

Pac and Hamed didn't have great chins. I also chose Leonard at first, but to be fair he didn't have *great* one-punch knockout power. Very good power, but not great.

Arguably Roy Jones - before he went up to HW and back he was only floored once and was never seriously hurt. He certainly had the fastest hands at LHW and one-punch KO power in both fists. To be fair he just didn't get hit enough for his chin to be tested.

i see where you are comming from,

loss to douglas by knock out, knocked out by holyfeild and lewis.

i would consider that tyson had a great chin because these knock outs came from mass accumulations of punishment. tyson absorbed udder thrashings from lewis and douglas before finaling being knocked out. he also absorbed some huge shots from bruno and ruddock.
