That pretty much sums it up......because of the stink that was made about such a poor decision in their first fight......there were congressiional hearings here in the US about that whole debacle.....and all that was talked about in every media story in the leadup to the rematch was the corruption of the decision of their first fight......

......anyone with an ounce of common sense knew that Holyfield was going to have to KO Lewis to earn a draw.

The rematch was closely contested. I thought Holyfield was more effective landing the cleaner more telling shots of the fight......when the scores were read it was predictable........the judges had turned in their scorecards beforehand and had Lewis winning by wide scores......

Back then, there were a few articles about how the corruption of fight one influenced the judges to side with Lewis in the rematch........but mostly, the media seemed content that this time it was justifiable that two wrongs would make a right.

You know, had that decision went to Holyfield, he would have become the undisputed Heavyweight champ for the 2nd time in his career......Holyfield had said he would retire if he had accomplished that goal.

Sadly, Holyfield is still fighthing and still talking of accomplishing that goal.:?

Holyfield winning the 2nd fight??? I'd love to know who had him winning the first fight.

I had him losing both, the 2nd time by a larger margin

    My Scorecard

    1. Lewis
    2. Lewis
    3. Lewis (Close round)
    4. Lewis
    5. Holyfield
    6. Holyfield
    7. Holyfield
    8. Lewis
    9. Holyfield
    10. Lewis
    11. Lewis
    12. Holyfield (Close round)

115-113 Lewis, I would say anywhere between 6-6 and 8-4 Lewis would be fair.

I thought the judges had all scored it 9-3 (obviously remember it wrong)

i had it 6-6 the first time. it's tough because as everyone has said, you WANTED lewis to win and you were inclined to give it to him. still holyfield picked his shots beautifully and scraped enough rounds on my card (especially with good use of the left hook) to get a draw. it was hardly dominating and lewis looked like **** at times compared to the first fight

    1. Lewis
    2. Lewis
    3. Holyfield
    4. Lewis
    5. Holyfield
    6. Lewis
    7. Holyfield
    8. Lewis
    9. Lewis
    10. Lewis
    11. Lewis
    12. Holyfield

    116-112 in favour of Lewis.

You could score rounds 6 and 9 to Holyfield, and 3 to Lewis.

there were too many close/hard to score rounds for this fight to be that controversial.

I gave round 3 to Lewis, round 4 to Holyfield (just), round 6 to Holyfield and round 5 to Lewis (just).

We have discussed this many times here, and to date I don't think anyone who has scored it for Holyfield has produced a viable scorecard for that result. There is simply no way a reasonable observer could give Holyfield 7 rounds in that fight

You can ignore the first fight and assume it never happend and Lewis still won the second fight on it's own merits. I've seen this fight several times and my personal score is 8-4 Lewis and I even watched it wanting Holyfield to win the fight, and only got to 7-5. Neither of these scores has ANYTHING to do with the first fight. To me they're apples and oranges. And I'm on the fence as to which fighter I like more. I believe Lewis to have a better career at heavyweight, and Holyfield to have a better career if his CW accomplishments are included and I also believe him to be a better P4P fighter.
