Tough call, and won’t worry if others disagree...this seems a fair grouping. I won’t argue if others have it different Holyfield Walcott Patterson Holmes Johnson Schmeling
Holmes Walcott Holyfield Schmeling Johnson. I'm smiling because I can't believe Larry belongs so high on this list, though he only had a couple of one punch kos. The uppercut he gave Weaver ruined rather than knocked him out, but I'm not sure even Jjw's Louis-flooring right was as powerful. Just watch the replays. Poor Marvis.
Tough list, hmm Walcott Patterson Holyfield Schmeling Holmes Johnson The bottom three are especially interchangeable IMO
Believe it or not. On this list I'd say Patterson with one punch. Followed by Holyfield, Holmes, Walcott,Schmeling , Johnson. Patterson's leaping left hook was feared in his day. ( And I'm Kinda partial to the left hook lol) Other than Holmes jab, I don't think anyone else had a Signature punch. Maybe Smelings right hand , but the rest were mainly combination punchers.
I`d pick Paterson for one punch power compared to the others because of his two destructions of Ingo, Holy was more consistently solid with his shots, there was more strength in his blows, but Paterson had more snap in his hook, Walcotty could crack pretty good too, great timing and he had a very muscular back which I think added to the force of some of his best shots.
He did have a great hook that was in a way completely his own with the lunging thing. It does say a lot that Liston creamed him so bad, because imo Patterson was a great fighter.
This is about it for me i reckon. The top two are close as Walcott had that great knack for catching guys with shots they didn't see or brace for.
lol. How about, as best as Seamus can tell, based on all he is looking at and knows about boxing, who do you believe hit the hardest?
