I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're a fan of Monzon.

Hagler. And it's a fairly straightforward pick.

    Hi Buddy.
As a fellow poster who has, in the main enjoyed your posts on many various topics, I feel compelled to ask you to make this the last post from yourself on this particular subject, you have said all there is to say ( more than once ) and as a friend across the water, please consider my request, we can all see your respect and love for Monzon, no harm in that, but it's starting to cloud your thought process, for what it's worth I also hold Monzon in the highest esteem, but I can be subjective, please take my words in the spirit they are meant, in the short time I have been a member, you have chided yourself too often and taken off to the other portals, we don't want that, you are a valued member of our great site, and your contributions are still sought after, believe me.
stay safe Rich, chat soon .

Again Rich, you’re straying well of the subject.

I’ve haven’t watched either Monzon or Hagler act, so I can’t make the call on that.

But if one wants to meander beyond ring performances - which you’ve just one - then Monzon did far worse, failing miserably as a human being given the obvious evidence.

Ultimately , an officially ruled murderer - so I’m guessing you accept that but I’ve read you state yourself that his activities external to the ring have nothing to do with his rating as a fighter.

Multiple, credible sources accept that Monzon was KD’d 3 times early in his career.

That’s 4 KDs suffered in total by Monzon vs 1 KD (an obvious slip) for Hagler.

On BoxRec, someone copied/typed out a contemporary article in Spanish describing Monzon’s trips to the canvas in the Cambeiro fight.

Sure, I haven’t seen the copy of the source article - but I highly doubt that it was fabricated by the said Boxrec member. Reg Gutteridge was obviously privy to the facts also back in 1977.

Monzon’s own trainer is hardly a reliable source - even high profile trainer Dundee falsely claimed that he gained 3 extra mins by tearing Ali’s glove - we know that wasn’t true at all.

Just keeping it tight my man.

Agreed. Hagler is the correct answer to this question .

I don't think there is a correct answer as both guys were absolute monsters in the chin department. Monzon was 35 or so when he took an absolute bomb from Valdez, a huge puncher, flush and bounced back up solid as could be ... he was badly stunned by Briscoe in the 9th round of the rematch but came back.

I don't know if I ever saw Hagler even hurt ... I hear about round 1 vs Hearns but never see it on film ... I certainly feel the Roldan KD was technical but not anything about him being even slightly hurt ..

As a single source, it carries its own weight Rich - which I would rate as very reliable. But it is also one of multiple sources that agree on the matter, and Monzon’s early career KDs were referenced well before the advent of BoxRec.

    Where are those highlights ??
From what I know, the only footage of Greb that exists is just a few minutes of sparring / fooling around and training.
Are you telling us there is more ????? o_O
