Floyd really shouldn't be compared to Winky or Sweet Pea, YET. Despite the long, flashy watered-down resume, Castillo was the last and perhaps ONLY career defining fight he had against a guy considered his contemporary. Not only that, a prime Castillo proved to be his equal and most thought bested Floyd. Not that Winky or Whitaker haven't had their own losses cuz they had, but what I'm tryin to say is the quality in Floyd's opponents simply doesn't compare with the exception of a prime Castillo, which Floyd lost to. Winky never had a controversial win vs Mosley or Tito. Hell, he held a prime Taylor to a draw and outlanded a much bigger Hopkins tho he lost that one. Winky fought the best much closer to their prime than Floyd did. More complete fighter? Sure, might give it to Floyd. But better, more effective defense? Winky and Sweet Pea walked thru the fire where Floyd doesn't even think about it. He ready with his fire extinguisher. Pea and Winky were clearly more effective. Just look at who they fought and WHEN they fought them, that's the big difference.

    In order.

    Pea
    Floyd
    Wright

However, I think that Floyds longevity might make him #1 at some point, dude just doesn't get hit, and more importantly, gets hit fewer times as the fight progresses, which shows a true ring IQ.

No offense but you don't know what you are talking about.
First of all, By the time Chavez fought Whitaker he was already on the way down. That match went to a draw. TWO FIGHTS LATER CHAVEZ LOST TO FRANKIE RANDALL. ENOUGH SAID.

Floyd would've embrassed that version of Chavez. Pea got a Draw with Chavez.

Chavez is a great fighter but GROSSLY overated. He have A LOT of tomatoe cans in his record.

Saying Floyd doesn't have anyone at Chavez's level is flat out ridiculous. Who is Oscar, who is Shane? And Hell Floyd is about to fight Canelo who is taking the same path as Chavez on his rise to the top who have already 44 wins but majority CANS. You follow the trend yet? Not saying Canelo is not an elite but is how things roll in mexico. THEY DO NOT LIKE AMATUER FIGHTS bc they do not get paid so they learn on the job in the pro boxing. (hence they big records)

You are suggesting that Whitaker is greater bc he fought an out of prime Chavez. While YOU THINK that Floyd doesn't have the same level caliber of fighter in out of prime Oscar or Shane or Marquez? ON CHAVEZ LEVEL.

Where is Whitaker at age 36? Okay then.
Floyd is clearly better fighter than Whitaker.

I agree that Chavez wasn't in his prime, but he wasn't significantly far from it. He wasn't as faded as the Hoya that fought Mayweather, for example.

We have no proof of the first claim. (Although it would be interesting to see a discussion/poll thread for that fight.) As for the second claim, most boxing fans agree that the draw wasn't justified, and that Whitaker won the fight.

Oscar and Shane were significantly faded by the time they fought Mayweather. Oscar retired only one year after the Mayweather fight, after taking a bad beating against Pac while looking helpless, and look at how Mosley did after he fought Mayweather. He wasn't anywhere near his best at the time.

Different fighters have different prime periods. Sugar Ray Leonard, for example, was 34 when he got taken apart by Norris, then only had one more fight (a TKO loss against Camacho) before retiring. Is Mayweather better than Ray Leonard, because he's still winning at a later age?

Oscar and Shane and Marquez was still good enough to ko Mayroga, Margarito, and Pacqiauo.

Floyd is a better fighter than SRL as well.
