Who had the best defense

Not really relevant to what I stated, though, is it? My post was actually referring to the pre-Rosario Camacho. A better fighter in those days, but primarily on the offensive. Never a notable upper-body defensive fighter. Cat quick on his feet, though, in opening and closing the distance, making it difficult for that level of opposition to find countering opportunities. When combined with his lightning quick handspeed in combination you had a difficult puzzle to solve in that regard

Jim Watt would make a great dark-horse pick against young Camacho methinks.

 

I think Mayweather is more of a great counter puncher. Which of course requires great defense. Than a great defensive boxer. While it is hard to land a scoring shot on Mayweather. He takes a lot of shots to his sholuder and gloves. There are times when he's on the ropes and blocking punches with his gloves. That he looks awkward and not in the good way a boxer can look awkward.

 

Im surprised that the most elusive fighter of all time - Pep only gets 12 votes. I suppose its a sign of the times.
