Which fighter do you think had the best (most significant to their career) fight this weekend? Paul Williams - Coming back and putting on a good scrap against Ishida? Vitali Klitschko - Beating Chisora with one arm injured for the last 8 rounds? Chris Arreola - First round KO over Molina? David Haye - Jumping back on the fringe of relevancy with his shenanigans at a post-fight press conference for a fight that he wasn't even a part of? Gabriel Campillo - with a near upset of Travoris Cloud?
Personally, I'd rate them like this: Paul Williams - This fight was do or die for his boxing career. The guy was Missing in Action, completely. Nearly forgotten. Coming back and putting on a good show against Ishida will most likely put him in a bigger fight this year. David Haye - Most people had counted him out, assuming he was going to talk **** and fade into Bolivian. He has just setup a big fight at home against an opponent he has a chance of beating and looking good against. Also, stalls for time while Vitali ages more and more by the day. Campillo - Showed that he's more than everyone thought. Could definiately put him into a good situation this year. Arreola - Great finish, he looked in good shape, brought the pain. But, he really needs to step up the competition now that he's found his groove and is making noise and in good shape.
Campillo. It was the first I saw of him and I want to see more. He was exciting INSIDE the ring. He can throw mean combos and has a lil swag to him as well. I just wish the judges didn't ruin it for him.
your all wrong...THIS was the best fight this weekend... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmtH4ANKXWY[/ame]
Because Chisora lost to a 40 yr old World Champion who beat him despite having only one good arm. That is not impressive, its shameful.
Campillo. Although he lost, it solidified his reputation as a tough, gritty "road warrior" who isn't afraid to fight on foreign soil, even if it means he gets robbed from time to time. Sort of like Glen Johnson used to be. I'd reckon Campillo has more fans now than Cloud does. Williams looked okay, but Ishida is a difficult opponent to look good against, given his solid chin and cagey style. But, Paul got the win in dominant fashion and deserves credit for that.
1 Williams- He not only beat a decent opponent by shutout but he looked pretty good in there. He keeps himself alive for some big fights where a loss could have been the end of the line for him as far as being a top fighter. 2 Chisora- He lost the fight but has put himself in demand. He'll obviously land another big fight after this weekend. Would love to see it be Haye. 3 Campillo- He didn't get the win or the belt but showed real talent on the big stage. There's some talent at 175 and he'll be in some big fights again, he would have rated #1 on this list if he actually got the win. But losing the fight and not grabbing the belt(even if he deserved the win) does hurt some. 4 Vitali- He got the win and did so while injured but his stock either maintained at best or even dipped some. He looked the most vulnerable he's looked since he came back and another injury coupled with his age really put question marks around his future. 5 Stevenson- He blew out a solid fighter in Gonzales, thats a good win. He's going to land a meaningful fight soon and this win will have played a big part of it. 6 Arreola- He beat another C-level fighter and keeps himself alive for another Klitschko fight so thats good. But he got wobbled by a guy he shouldn't have and even worse his weight keeps creeping up. Obvioulsy a semi-exciting ko in the first round is good but there were a couple smaller things that seem to stick out that weren't so great.
