Charles has one of the best resumes in boxing history. If I was an employer and saw his resume, I wouldn't even need to take him to interview - instant hire!
There's not a lot of proof for that outcome, outside of rosy-tinged remembrances of writers whose primes coincided with Dempsey's. And realize that Dempsey represented something entirely new and exciting, a break from the safety-first styles of Corbett, Jeffries and Johnson, a dynamic offensive performer. It is understandable why he was held in such regard.
