From 8-29-1921 till 8-29-22 Harry Greb went 17-0 fighting such notables as Kid Norfolk, Gene Tunney. Tommy Gibbons and Tommy Loughran amongst others.

How about Greb's entire 1919 campaign where he went 45-0 against the likes of Mike Gibbons, Jeff Smith, Soldier Bartfield, Battling Levinsky, Bill Brennan, Billy Miske, Leo Houck, Willie Meehan, etc., most of them multiple times.

    Wassup Jab?

Well you'd be hard pressed to find anything better than Greb.

Of course the fighters in the early parts of last century was very busy. You can also find great years from the likes of Joe Gans, Sam Langford etc.

Looking at the post-war years it is also clear that there was plenty of work for the boxers:

Worthy of a mention is Ezzard Charles from 05-1946 - 05-1947 where he went 10-0 including 2 wins over Archie Moore, which you mentioned yourself.

From 08-47 - 07-48 Ike Williams went 11-0 including wins over Beau Jack, Kid Gavilan and Tippy Larkin.

    From 10-47 - 10-48 Willi Pep went 19-0.

There's also several outstanding years for the incomparable Ray Robinson in post-war period.

Just ponder what Greb did in 1919, He fought 45 times and won them ALL.
Fighting weekly, against many guys who outweighed Greb by many pounds
and some HOFamers to boot. The more you study the career of this great fighter, the more he amazes you.His like we will never see again...

Its a shame fighters nowadays won't even fight in a year a tenth of what Greb did.

Younger or less informed fans simply don't understand that there is no substitute for greatness by beating EVERYBODY.

So true and I find it astonishing that a lot of these great old fighters did it.

Floyd Mayweather calling himself so great at 41-0... Greb and Armstrong (among others) are rollong in their graves...

I'd love to hear what they'd say to Floyd or Oscar or any other modern fighter who's wrongly inserted ahead of any of the fighters mentioned (by the less informed):

"Mother****er, I did that in one year! And by the way, I was fighting tougher guys..."

And losing some along the way, sometimes, I might add... They fought so frequently, it was inevitable that you'd fight bums all the way up to the best opposition.

When did preserving your unbeaten record become more important than legacy and giving fans their money's worth?

Didnt Lamotta and Robinson fight twice in the same year?

Im sure if you look at that year, Robinson had to have had a tough schedule just from those two fights alone
