Who had the Harder style to overcome.. Pea or PBF

Let's break it down.

It's probably as even as it gets... Whitaker lost to Ramirez which is probably compatible to Jesus chavez.

JCC is comparable to JLC, in a way, though many will disagree.

McGirt is probably on a Pac Level.. maybe..
Paez.... Chicanito type...
Floyd accomplished more, though Sweet pea is probably the more gifted fighter.

 

What really shocked me was just how fast Floyd was still at 38 against Pacquiao. You see the speed in the Bradley bouts and would think it was comparable but he was made to look slow in his fight against Floyd.

I'm going with Whitaker as I feel he was better by a slight margin at their peaks. I pick Pea slightly H2H and there's nothing about Mayweather that makes me think that his style would make it more difficult for opponents than how difficult Whitaker would be.

The number of guys I'd pick to beat Floyd from 130-140 is pretty small and even smaller for Whitaker at those weights (or 135-140 as he didn't fight at 130).

 

Castill, Cotto,Maidana ... did not win in rounds , huh?

 

Both were exceptional fighters, the best of their ages .. Whitaker did not lose a fight till he was old against welterweight powerhouses like Oscar and Tito .. the Ramirez fight was a joke. The same w the Chavez draw. Floyd maintained his top form longer, more disciplined long term. Very, very close.

 

Whitaker was done at the age Floyd was when he was beating Cotto and Maidana. He was dropping more rounds than Floyd dropped to either Cotto or Maidana when he fought Hurtado at age 33.

Castillo did win some rounds. He rightfully lost each fight though.

 

Comparing Paez and Chico is insane.

 

Chicanito, not chico.. But Paez was pretty damn good too.

 

My mistake, not so insane in that case.

 

Tough call.

If we're splitting hairs, I do think Pea's clowning cost him at times and that he left unanswered countering opportunities on the table that Floyd wouldn't have. As such, beating Floyd may have been a little tougher even though a Sweet Pea highlight reel would likely be more jaw-dropping.

 

Yes they won rounds, Floyd didn't give them away.

Whitaker often gave rounds away.

 

Yeah but Whitaker actually lost rounds he was trying to win too(R.Mayweather, DLH, Rivera). Whitaker was actually dominated at times against them something thats never once happened to Floyd

Whitaker actually gave away enough rounds vs Ramirez to lose the fight which shows a lack of fight IQ. He also made fights against Paez, Pineda and Nelson close by giving rounds away heck if Mills Lane had called Whitaker on his all his fouls he would of lost the fight vs Nelson too

 

durable i totally agree with you, pea is far more proven there.

mentally strong i also agree but would say floyd does have an advantage in terms of seeing and executing what he needs to do to win the fight.

I think floyd was faster tho, and i don't think it's particularly close. Pea was faster than the average fighter but floyd is amongst the all time elite in that category.
