Whitaker's fights with McGirt (especially the 2nd) and Roger Mayweather were more entertaining all the way through than any of Roy's fights IMO, but all in all, Roy was a more entertaining performer in the ring.
IMO, Pea was in quite a few entertaining fights down at lightweight. He was much more aggressive than he was later in his career, and he threw a lot more punches. Mayweather, Haugen, Paez, and Nelson were all very lively fights IMO, and there was also his shock KO of Nazario. After he moved up in weight, he gradually became a boring, ugly stinker, who did more wrestling/holding/jiving than he did actual fighting, but he did regain his old fire for a couple of fights late in his career, when he beat Rivera (the rematch) and Hurtado. I gave Whitaker the nod.
Whitaker in his prime was much more active and aggressive than Jones who barring a totally outclassed and unworthy challenger, tended to be too cautious. RJJ's explosiveness is certainly an edge over Whitaker, but Whitaker was more exciting overall.
i like whitaker better, he was only 5'6 and he'd put on clinics (not saying RJJ didnt) for some 1 of whirakers stature it was truely impressive. if whitaker had decent pop he would have been more exciting.
DAAAM! that's a hard one....:think I'll say Pernell Whitaker later in his career was in more exciting fight's.
jones farted around with opponents and wasn't always as destructive as he could have been. i would like to have seen jones fight in a different era where he had more challenges, but both he and pea were just terrific to watch.
