Why start a poll where you know the answer?..Another rubbish ESB poll. How bout this..whose shorter? Naz or PAC?
Pacquiao's power at 122 was quite devastating. I would still say not quite as dangerous as Hamed, but close enough to have an honest debate about it. Hamed was dangerous with both hands while Pacquiao has mostly been a left handed destroyer.
Pacquiao's first test run at 126, before facing Barrera. vs Russian featherwight Yesmangetov [yt]0_VDBONpd-Y[/yt] Manny got KD but fought back hard, immediately. Notice that MP barely got a clean hit on the Russian but the guy got KD. Hamed was famous for those seemingly grazing punches that hurt his opponents. I still say that Naseem had better one punch power, but Manny's is comparable. MP's power can hang with Hamed's.
I've seen almost all of his fights, and it's a shame that many of his early fights with KO wins arent on youtube. One of my favorites was Pac vs Arnel Barotillo. IIRC it was only his second fight at 122. Around the early to mid rounds, MP hit Barotillo with a nice punch, and the guy stood still for a couple of seconds, then suddenly dropped like a sack of potatoes. Delayed reaction KO.
What do you all mean by "one punch knock-out power"? Boxers including Hamed threw more than one punch before they knocked-out their opponent. In fact, they had to eat a few direct punches to the face before they were knocked down. That's not "one punch knock-out power".
Again with all respect to Naz and his fans, I would love to see him go up against Erik Morales or Juan Manuel Marquez and see how he faired against them. It's one thing to knock-out good fighters, it's a completely different thing to knock-out HOFers and ATGs.
They do eat a few punches. The term is more about someone who could stop you without delivering too much punishment AND would often stop fighters without any type of combination punching. The fighter would be fine, showing no signs of being hurt, then simply get caught and be unable to continue. A perfect example of devastating one punch power is Julian Jackson at 154. Youtube his fight with Herol Graham. That is the very definition of one punch power.
Edwin Valero's punching power isn't in Naseem Hamed's league, or even close to it. Hamed stopped some very good fighters: Kevin Kelley, Tom Johnson, Wilfredo Vazquez, Vuyani Bungo, and Manuel Medina. These guys are levels above the fighters Valero has been facing. And even in Valero's wins, he looks more like a "grind you down" type of fighter. Not a "one punch" fighter.
Pacquiao knocking down Marquez 3 times in the first round says a lot about his one punch power. Nobody can do it like Pacquaio against the very best.
