not to mention that holyfield possesses one of the most balanced body proportions in not just boxing, but in sports.

in all honesty, i think evander at 190 lbs had the most ideal athletic physique i've seen.

You're right of course, but if you take the viewpoint that Holyfields training and therefore physical development, from say after the De Leon fight onwards, was designed to make him more effective at fighting heavyweights by increasing leg strength, developing his traps to assist with absorbing punches and strengthening his back for when big guys were leaning on him, it does become more relevant.

Remember when Holyfield first moved up the idea you could improve your performance through selective resistance training was kinda rubbished. I remember Angelo Dundee's opinion on Holyfield's training methods quite well. It was something like "Wind sprints suck, water resistance drills suck and if I ever catch a guy of mine near a weight room he'd better be able to take a baseball bat to the head"

To cut short my blabber, what I'm trying to say is that I feel that Holyfields physique was designed and developed not for aesthetic appeal but to deliver performance, whereas David Haye's physique looks almost like he's worked on and developed the nightclub show muscles, huge pecs, big biceps....but little back development etc.

yeah the one and only Dr Squat. Actually at one time he was a business partner of Lee Haney's which may be how Holyfield came into contact with him.

Aaron Baker was an amazing all round athlete. He even took up wrestling training at a pretty late age and by all accounts was fairly good at it

the opposite for me. Haye looks like an athlete, Holy looks like an athlete juiced to the gills.

I much prefer Holyfield's build, Haye to me looks just like a lot of really big guys at the gym or football players, shaped well and bulky but really not too cut, I actually think he looks pretty natural for a big guy. Holyfield in my opinion had way less subcutaneous fat, which is something that is unusual for big guys, usually its those little sub 160 guys who have that kind of shredding muscular definition.

I can't be bothered to speculate on haye's use of steroids or not, but I think his level of conditioning and size is consistent with a dedicated lifing regimen and decent work ethic, I really don't see anything extraordinary about it, he's a mesomorphic big guy.
