Kelly Pavlik and Joe Calzaghe are clear favorites in their October and November bouts, respectively, against Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones, Jr., respectively. So the question I ask is: which underdog has the better chance of pulling off the upset against their favored and unbeaten opponent? When making your choice, vote in the poll and explain what strategy both need to employ against his respective opponent and why the person you choose can do it better to score the upset.

It would be an upset to me if Kelly Pavlik won, honestly. Styles make fights, and I don't see anyway Kelly will adapt in order to land shots.

    We'll see come fight night.

As much as I hate to say it Jones. I do not think Hopkins has any chance.

True, but I have to be honest and say Jones in my opinion by far has the better chance for the upset.

Roy Jones has 0.0*% chance, so logically I'd have to say Hopkins.

I'd be shocked if either guy produced an upset.

I think B-Hop won't upset pavlik...B-Hop tired in the later rounds vs calzaghe; he's that much older now...pavlik will actually hurt b-hop unlike calzaghe and pavlik won't fade...Pavlik will own the later rounds giving him a UD or a late TKO.

RJJ has a shot. That shot is if calzaghe's age shows. It showed in his fight w/ B-Hop, and if calzaghe isn't the calzaghe of old it'll be a 50/50 fight.

I went for Hopkins. I see that fight as being 50-50 pretty much, because Bernard's beard takes power out of the equation.

Jones has a 10% chance IMO - not had a top drawer win for 4 years (forget Tito :deal). Unless Calzaghe looks his age (possibility) then he won't win.

Roy. It's unlikely, but if he can catch Joe (who leaves himself open to getting hit and is often off-balance) with a power punch combo coming in he could score a couple of knockdowns.

Harder to see the KO tbh. I wonder how Roy's stamina will hold up for the later rounds.

I honestly can't see any way for B-Hop's to beat KP - unless he does something like a gunshot without the ref seeing (he is a master, afterall). Or unless he poisons Mike Pavlik's drinks to effect a heart attack. :yep

    :good

Joe eats the right hand all night long, but as you point out, does Roy have the stamina to live for 12 rds and still be effective :think

I dont know how these fights will play out. on paper it looks clear. Remember, no one would have given Jones a snowball chance in hell after he got kod against Johnson. He also looked not that good against this Prince guy. Against Trinidad he seemed to have his "new" style established. He adjusted. And maybe his body is healing to some kind. I really think he harmed his body very much with what he did.
If Roy Jones beats Calzaghe it is the first time i see a shot fighter becoming unshot :)
Hopkins on the other side was never shot, he is just a little bit older. He had two very close fights vs. Taylor, i havent seen him doing worse vs Calzaghe. Problem is, this time he is in vs. a real hard banger. So he better come in with a good plan and plenty of stamina.

I go with Hopkins. He has the better chances. I hope Pavlik wins though and fights Abraham in January

Definitely Hopkins. I would say he's got about a 35% chance while RJJ has about a 20% chance if less.
