If Joe is truly retired and Mayweather never comes back, who will be remembered of having a better legacy?

Without a single doubt, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

130, 135, 140, 147, 154 champ. Cleaned up at 130 and 135 and despite being the smaller fighter in most of his fights from 140 up, was still far too good and far too skilled to lose.

Maintained P4P #1 for a number of years and always had that aura about him, people always wanted him to lose, he never did.

There aren't the fighters available for Joe to get ahead (in logical sense) in my view.

Mostly because we look at multi weight world champions as being cream of the cream and also because Floyd regularly kicked the ass of P4P #10 talent.

Maybe if Joe had been born 5-6 years earlier and managed to get an earlier version of Eubank, Collins, Benn, McClellan, Toney, Hopkins on his record and then have some of the later wins he did have, you could have a case.

But hell, P4P wise, Floyd Mayweather Jr is easily a Top 5 contender in my view. I know lots of people don't like that opinion but 37/0 across 5 weight classes where you stated "I want the WBC, that's all that matters to me" early in your career and collect the WBC in every division you enter? It's hard to be ranked ahead of him, he's the best of this generation, despite the grumblings about his competition.

mayweather wouldnt even face the top two of his OWN WEIGHT CLASS margo or cotto

who was he smaller than at 140??? hatton?

mayweather has a long arm reach, he hardly ever faced other champs for unfications, so i dont get where you say "clean house." he usually just fought an average champ for the division before moving on(except for castillo where he almost was beaten)...

This is where people like you just don't understand the difference between a guy who is a natural 140lber and a guy who put on the 10lbs to get there.

Floyd was a small guy at 140 and compared to the Margarito and Cotto type fighters, completely small at 147.

And 130-135, he cleaned house. Just because you're a hateful little ***** doesn't stop that fact. 140 onwards, he was all about making himself dollars at lower risk, and I can't blame him for that, look at how fans forget him busting his balls when he was young for 100k a fight against dangerous opponents.

mayweather.that the knob jockeys here choose to slag off him as well as joe only proves the point that this is a place full of small minded fools even further

Floyd Mayweather, truly an excellent fighter albeit a ect, ect. Joe Calzaghe is going to get picked apart in the future if this is all he ever does. The biggest mouthpieces in the biggest boxing market in the world say he lost to Bernard Hopkins. Some of them said to his face at the post fight press conference on Saturday that Lacy and Kessler are 1D, and Jones was well past it beforehand. It's not like Joe doesn't already know.

im not trying to be a hater i respect mayweather but...

let's remember who he beat for multiweight chamionships: gatti for the 140 belt, baldomir for the 147, and DLH for the 154, its not like he faced the best in each weight class going up... he could have faced kostya, margarito, clottey, and p. williams... instead he faced hatton, gatti, baldomir and DLH..
