He might have but he didn't fight them(or similar from his era), that's the point. I think Calzaghe could fight everyone from SMW over the last 10 years and be 50-0, although I do think the Ward fight is close. But he didn't do that so it doesn't matter who he would or wouldn't have beat on Froch's resume when comparing the 2. Froch's resume is Froch's resume and Calzaghe's is Calzaghes, Froch's is better.
Calzaghe unified SM, WBO champ, dominated Lacy IBF champ and p4p( isn't it amazing to think that yes, Jeff Lacy was actually ranked p4p by many people at the time), gave a fantastic performance against Mikkel Kessler WBA and WBC champ. Gave elite performances in both fights to take over the division, Carl Froch does not have that pedigree If we need to go through the "good wins" on each fighters record, then Calzaghe will steal this argument and run away with it
Just google "Calzaghe vs Lacy Predictions" if you don't believe how highly rated Lacy was at the time (includes James Toney and Roy Jones predictions) Sergiy Kovalev had nothing on Jeff Lacy
Yes it is a well discussed argument for me Calzaghe still by a fair distance the better resume. Lacy was expected to have far too much firepower & to take JC apart when you look back & talk about great performances by modern British fighters what he did to Lacy that night was a true masterclass. Kessler another memorable night & underated performance at the time.
Calzaghe - Lacy,Kessler,Hopkins,Jones jr Froch - Pascal,Taylor,Dirrell,Abraham,Johnson,Kessler,Bute Froch > Calzaghe Enough said!!
What a ridiculous post. How is that enough said? Pascal - Did nothing at SMW Taylor - Did nothing at SMW Dirrell - Did nothing at SMW Abraham - SMW world champ found he couldnt compete with top SMWs Johnson - Did nothing at SMW Kessler - Was faded and arguably Frochs best win Bute - Good win against an undefeated SMW world champ Now if you look at those lists arguably Frochs best win is a faded Kessler that Calzaghe beat when prime, Johnson lost to Sheika who Calzaghe beat, Dirrell, Abraham and Pascal have not done very much at SMW in fact Pascal lost to older Hopkins that Calzaghe beat Very Easily Calzaghe Look at the big wins for both at SMW Calzaghe - Eubank SMW champ Reid SMW champ Woodhall SMW champ Veit int world champ Mitchell SMW world champ Brewer SMW world champ Bika SMW world champ Lacy SMW world champ undefeated SMW champ Kessler SMW world champ undefeated SMW champ Then consider that Sheika who Calzaghe beat, beat Johnson, Hopkins that Calzaghe beat, beat Pascal. It could go on like that. Who did Froch beat as good as prime Kessler, Hopkins, Eubank or arguably even prime Lacy
Why would you lol at that? Calzaghe in his prime, hit harder, has a better chin, is faster, has greater stamina to name a few things. Ward has yet to beat a top undefeated SMW and has only beaten already beaten fighters and old SMWs. Consider Wards best win is an old, past best unwell SMW that Calzaghe beat when prime
Ill go through the list of fighters you just named on Calzaghe's record and explain to you why none of them are on par with the guys Froch has beaten.Besides Kessler and Hopkins Joe really didnt challenge himself at the top level.Yes he fought guys that were world champions at one stage but were either well past their sell by date or just plain not very good. Eubank-at the end of his career when he fought Joe and definately looked like a shell of the fighter he once was,Froch would have flattened that version Eubank in more convincing fashion that Calzaghe did. Robin Reid-gave Joe fits in that fight and although wasnt very good managed to win a world title,Froch stopped Reid and beat him in a way more convincing fashion. Woodhall-why you would mention him is beyond me,I could have mentioned Brian Magee on Froch's behalf but I didnt,he was a belt holder too so what?? Veit-LOL Byron Mitchell-half decent but nowhere near as good as say a Jean Pascal or Jermaine Taylor, just because he held a title doesnt make him a world class opponent he was beaten convincingly by Sven Ottke. Charles Brewer-Absolutely shot to **** when Joe fought him,was knocked out in his previous outing by a nobody challenging for the NABA. Bika-Absolutely dreadful fighter, how he won a world title is beyond Froch would destroy him. Lacy-yes the undefeated Lacy,go have a look at his record and tell me one decent name on there before he fought Joe,you wont find anybody. It was a good win for Joe yes but Lacy was hype nothing more. Kessler-good win and probably Joes best performance,Froch has beaten Kessler aswell so that kind of cancels him out. So there you go,theres why I don't believe Calzaghe has the better record,he held the wbo title hostage for nearly 10 years fighting second tier fighters and never challenged himself on the world stage until the very end of his career.Froch has been mixing it there for the last 5 years and doing the business. Carl Froch>Joe Calzaghe Dont let your hatred for Froch's personality over shadow his achievements in the ring,he's one of the best British fighters to ever step in the ring.
Triangle theories are ******ed,Ward would have schooled Calzaghe. Joe was heavily protected, his team would have swerved Andre Ward if he was around in his day.
atsch goin 1-1 , life & death with a faded version of the same fighter that calzaghe dominated in his prime does not cancel itself out
Dominated? I think you need to watch that fight again, yes Joe won Im not arguing with that but to call it domination is ridiculous Kessler had his spots in the fight too.You could say the version that Froch fought was faded but you could also say the version Calzaghe fought was less experienced.Mikel had two big Ko wins before the rematch with Froch so he came into the fight on good form.
