Right now I would definitely say Holmes has the better legacy, but Wladimir's career isn't over yet.

    I'm embarrassed for you.

I think it's pretty clear that you have very limited knowledge when it comes to boxing history; rating Holmes at Top 20-25 isn't just underrating him, it's basically insulting him.

His resolve and heart has been proven over and over again. He held his title for 7 years and made 20 title defenses before losing it. He was a damn good champion. As for Wlad being poisoned?:lol::lol:

The idea of that of Wlad being poisoned is so far fetched that it can easily be perceived as a joke.

Out of curiosity what does your top 25 ATG Heavyweight List look like.

    :deal

He happens one of Wlad's more reasonable fans.

    I'm thinking the same thing.

    Holmes, obviously.

Wlad isn't in the top 20 all time yet, and when I say "yet", that's on the assumption he keeps on winning. If he loses to another Sanders or Brewster, he has no legacy at all. Holmes is top 5, without question.

Right now Wlad is doing what Holmes did in his era which was just beat the guys they put in front of you. It is all either could/can do.

I need more information to vote in the poll, what is Wlad's position on soup and jewelry for instance?

I also think if Wlad would atleast bodyslam someone in his next pressconference it would give him a better shout, Larry knew how it was done :nod

Holmes. The shot and or B-class fighters he beat are still far more impressive opponents than are on either Klitschko's resume. Note that I am not saying the Klitschkos are bums, their opponents are, which limits "legacy" quite a bit.

since that post has had about five rebukes so far, I would say I am in pretty good company.

Are you ready to label half the thread contributors the shortbus crew?

They are pretty even. Neither guy ever faced absolutely top quality opponents due to fighting in weak areas. Holmes does have Ali and Norton on his resume, albeit they were both shadows of what they had been. I'd say Holmes at this point, though if Wladimir goes on and stays unbeaten until he is forty getting his number of defences near 20 and perhaps getting hold of the final belt when his brother retires that could even things out and perhaps even put him a bit ahead.

When you dominate at hw for more than a decade you always have SOME kind of legacy. You may not go down as the greatest, but you will be remembered. Larry had great skills and was dominant, but like Wladimir he never really got to test himself against top class guys while in his prime.

theres a fair difference between Larry opponents and Wlads though. A few stiffs in Larrys title resume but Wlads is full of them.

No way Wlad will overtake him since he keeps fighting these stiffs to try and prolong his career.
