This is not a knock on Rios but you would think after reading the threads in the aftermath that Antillon is Rios' best win to date. Antillon is a C+ level fighter at best that was stylistically in a mismatch against someone like Rios.

Remember Antillon clearly lost to Acosta first and is coming off a lost to Humberto Soto. Who by happen received not even half the praise Rios is getting for last night's fight.

Props to Rios and all but this is really a tune-up calibur type of fight that has blown up out of proportions because of some grade school she said- he said bickering in the lead up press conferences.

Now team Rios is going after Barrera next and when he does win I dont want to hear how Rios should be the FOTY with just wins over Acosta, Antillon and Barrera. Unify or move up.

I don't like Rios fighting Barrera but I will give Rios one free pass to scalp an old HOFer only because Rios is still young and has plenty of tough fights in store for the future. It's a similar situation with Khan when he fought Barrera. If I had it my way I'd either wait and see what happens with Guerrero or Marquez....or...have Rios move up to face Matthysse.

It's the way Rios destroyed him, no one had ever done that to Antillon. Not Acosta, not Soto.

Rios v soto next. With pac and guerero leaving the division this will crown the new king.

  6. You don't know what you're talking about. First off, Antillon had problems for years getting big fights because his manager is/was not liked in certain fighting circles. I have this on good authority from a well respected guy in California who is in the boxing biz.

Second, Antillon is a tough fight for anyone @ 135 and there was no style mismatch with Rios. Rios was just bigger and stronger in the exchanges, nothing more.

Third, with guys like Soto, Guerrero, and probably Rios moving to 140, Antillon can sit atop 135 along with Acosta.

To call Antillon a C+ fighter is simply not knowing much about boxing or his career in general. He fought Acosta, Rios, and Soto close, but just came up short.

Yea but it does not compare to what Rios did to him in such a short time.
