After reading comments in the lemieux-ggg bout thread, a bunch of people are saying that Martin Murray is considered triple g's toughest opponent s far. In spite of the hype around lemieux that he's the most dangerous.

So let's debate who has been triple g's toughest challenger in his career so far? Is I really Martin Murray? Someone else? Curtis Stevens? Monroe? Geale? Lemieux? Macklin? Who?

    What do you think?

His toughest opponents have been his haters, I'm believe Golovkin could step up to SMW and clean those lot out and they would still find a problem with that.

Why does he have haters though? It's his Fanatical fans plain, and simple.. Calling the guy a God, The GOAT, ATG without having beat anyone of worth is going to start an argument with any Fan whos seen fighters get their rep the hardway, through fighting guys with worth and challenging themselves by moving up in weight to secure those big fights that will test their greatness..

De la hoya, Leonard, Hagler, Chavez,Holyfield,Hearns, Duran, those guys deserve their praises because they fought everyone..GGG hasnt even began to reach the Greatness of KOstya Tyszu yet... Let alone those Guys.. His fans can speak highly of him because he does have the goods, but to annoint him a GOD and all that garbage is pathetic..

I agree, Golovkin hasn't done anywhere near enough to be spoken about in that sort of company, that is clear.

You are always going to get a few going way over the top when somebody is unbeaten or dominating their weight class. You just have to ignore those people
If and when Golovkin gets beat they will vanish and jump on the next unbeaten world champion.

But forget those people and look at Golovkin, what has Golovkin done wrong?
He is trying to unify the division, he is mopping up, he is willing to fight anybody and is stopping people, 21 straight stoppages.

You just have to enjoy the fact he is willing to fight any middleweight and wants to unify the division. We need to see more of this at other weights.

I do understand why people would want to pick holes in what Golovkin is trying to do and why they expect him to fight light heavyweights, it's ridiculous.

Yep it's Murray in my book. Wouldn't be surprised at all (or actually expect him to) if he grabs one of the SMW belts.

But the biggest trouble is, whoever Golovkin fights, the guy will be labelled a bum as soon as he signs the contract.
It used to be during the fight, but they seem to have moved the bar.

We've seen "this time he will finally be tested" or even "he will be schooled and KO'd" threads before a number of his latest fights, followed by "he only fights bums" by the same people or agreed upon by that people if someone else already made the tread before them.

They don't want him to fight a "big" name (are there any left at MW?), don't want him to become undisputed and/or lineal, and certainly don't want him to beat the MW record because that means they have acknowledge him.
They want him to step up one or two weightclasses and then see him lose a decision to a much bigger guy, to be able to say he was never anything special anyway.

His toughest opponent was Khomitsky IMO.
The Belarussian is a teak tough cookie who has upset the applecart more than once.He can punch and has good beard.GGG fought him in his 7th pro fight.Absolutely amazing it was!
Lemieux's two best opponents both beat him,and his best known scalp Ndam plays in the same league with Khomitsky. The difference is that Lemieux fought Ndam in his 35th pro fight whereas GGG beat Khomitsky in his 7th pro fight, impressively by the way.
Nonethless,it was extremely risky to take on an opponent as tough as Khomitsky in his 7th pro fight. He passed the test with flying colours.
For me Khomitsky has been GGG 's toughest test so far.

imo Murray was maybe the most accomplished fighter Golovkin has faced but the fight was still onesided.

The fighter which gave Golovkin the toughest pro fights so far were
    Ian Gardner and Kassim Ouma

I think it was Ouma but it's hard to compare this fights

Toughest fight or best opponent? I watched the Murray fight and Murray didn't do anything but take a beating. Maybe I need to watch it again but the fight wasn't competitive. Murray was the best opponent (record wise and Murray has fought against the best competition compared to ggg other opponents) but definitely not his toughest fight.

but no middleweight can give golovkin a run, it seems. golovkin will have to fight somebody considerly bigger than him before he gets beat, is the way it looks.

Ouma, because Gennady was sick when fighting him.

The toughest opponent while being in good shape was Lemieux.
