Ah yes, a black eye is indicative of an imminent KO

Golovkin has better defence, offence, power, intangibles and ringsmarts as Alvarez.
And much bigger cojones as well.

Alvarez has the edge on fight night weight/mass and "resume"... That won't help him much though.

If they meet I think the way Canelo slips punches will give Golovkin trouble. The only thing is I don't think Canelo is as slick protecting his body and Golovkin has an excellent body attack.

Both of them are pretty good but defensive in different ways; on the flip side, they both have their "WTF" moments. I think, to give a definitive answer, it'd require going back and studying tape.

Canelo seems to have better head movement but his footwork is horrid. Golovkin is great at controlling range and his footwork is subtly good. Their "WTF" moments? Sometimes they get caught with **** they shouldn't be getting caught with. I think Canelo's gaurd isn't that good. And I think Golovkin, in some cases, allows his opponent to tee off to make the fight more exciting. Prime example was vs. Monroe JR, I think he didn't want to finish him off too quickly so the fans don't feel robbed. So he let Monroe land a few shots and even eased off the gas when he could've gone for the 'kill'.

Overall, off the top of my head now, I'd rate them about the same. Someone mentioned +/- hit ratio, but they've fought different level of opposition. Canelo will have a poorer +/- because he's faced guys like Mayweather, Trout, and Lara.

I think Golovkin can have a better defense when he wants/needs to, he did a great job against Lemieux and neutralizing his offense. Granted Lemieux isn't the most talented boxer and he's got T-Rex arms, he still hurt his previous opponents. Credit where credit is due.

I think I'm leaning towards Golovkin because I think we've seen Canelo's best already, but haven't seen Golovkin's.

    :think

Agree: Golovkin has better Defense, Offense, power, intangibles, and ring smarts (IQ).
Alvarez has a better resume, it'll help him but not enough to win. I think the experience he's gained is important.

Disagree: Cojones? Neither of them want to move up to the next division to face a dangerous/more skilled opponent. Different circumstances, I know, won't delve too deep into that here. :bart
Alvarez and Golovkin weigh about the same on fight night, but that's better for Golovkin because he's cutting fewer lbs, less bloat.

    This...

And I am not sure when we might actually see what Golovkin can do defensively. I am not sold on Canelo being able to really push him.

I like both fighters very much.

Golovkin lands the more damaging blows from start to finish. Canelo may land just as often but I do not see him actually hurting Golovkin.

Their match may play out similar to their sparring tales.

Canelo hands down. GGG wining this poll just shows you most people here don't know boxing.
