Let's compare these two contenders with very good list of wins:

    Tua beat

    (former or future) HW champions-

    Rahman (prime)
    Ruiz
    Moorer (clearly past prime)
    Maskaev

    CW champion Robert Daniels

    HW contenders (and fringe contenders)

    Fres Oquendo
    David Izon
    Darroll Wilson
    Obed Sullivan
    Dannel Nicholson
    Shane Cameron
    Friday Ahunanya

    Povetkin beat

    former HW champions

    Chagaev
    Byrd (way past prime)
Rahman (completely shot, not top-100 at that time)

    CW champion

    Marco Huck
    Imamu Mayfield (shot)

    HW contenders and fringe cjntenders

    Eddie Chambers
    Carlos Takam
    Mike Perez
    Cedric Boswell (old)
    Larry Donald (shot)
    Friday Ahunanya
    Manuel Charr
    Andrzej Wawrzyk

    I'd pick Tua here.

He has better list of HW champions beaten, as well as a bit better list of contenders and fringe contenders

Regards Rahman, yes shot, but to say completely shot is giving Povetkin no credit. Rahman was coming off 5 straight KO's after Wlad beat him, all vs Wilder type challengers albeit. :hey

Tua, definitely. He would have been a belt holder in the wasteland that was created after Lewis retired, had he remained in shape.

No, he was beyond shot. Those 5 wins were over fighters that were in top 300-500 range.

In his very next fight Rahman was easily beaten by 3-2 novice who had 1 fight in the last 5 years and that was loss!!! to 0-10 guy. So Rahman at that moment was even worse than that 0-10 opponent.

Rahman was already shot when Wlad beat him, and that was 4 years prior to Povetkin fight

His 'very next fight' was two years later, age 42. Factor in the Pov loss and time out the ring he was certainly completely shot there. Not sure about in 2012. Pov is the only guy to blow him out, just like he did to Perez, nobody is going to claim Perez was shot.

He should have won a belt in the Lewis era as well. He's always mentioned as one of the best HW's that never won a titlebelt.
The man beat quite a number of later or former champions of that era (some in their primes), and even demolished a couple.

Perez wasn't, Rahman was. He could barely walk to the ring with his sick knees.

That Rahman would've lost to Wawrzhyk, and both aren't top-10 Povetkin wins

Povetkin: Gold medal, World & Euro championship, WBA Regular title

    Tua: Nothing

Amateur boxing has nothing to do with pro resume.

WBA regular belt is slightly (if at all) better than intercontinental belts and is equal to WBC silver belt.

I'm sorry my heavily-biased-against-your-neighbors friend, but that's incorrect.

Povetkin won Olympic gold medal, world championship and 2 European champions, beating every man he ever faced.

He also won WBA "Regular", which is officially only inferior to WBA "Super" title, no matter what your heavily biased opinion is. So far, Povetkin only ever lost to Wladimir Klitschko.

    David Tua won nothing.

He lost to Byrd (who lost to Povetkin) and Ibeabuchi among others, and drew with Rahman among others.

In addition to that, Tua got one-punch KO'd clean by Felix Savon, inside 15 seconds. :deal

Rahman should be 2-0 over Tua.... Tua hit him after the bell in the first fight, Rahman was ahead on the cards and he never fully recovered. 2nd fight Rahman was flat out robbed.

Tua was behind against Oquendo, Izon, and Maskaev, he needed to rally to win. Tua simply wasn't that good, he could punch, but Povetkin can do that and then some. Tua at the end of the day is one of the most overrated heavyweights of all time.....

You're delusional man.... Tua is apparently one of the best heavyweights of all time, he beats all of the old greats! Despite coming short in nearly every big fight of his career!

He fought Rahman nearly a decade after Lewis.

Id say thats pretty much a shot fighter.

    Better resume.

Not who won what medals in the amateurs.
