I can't wait until he gets to SMW and gets his ass whipped. That is if he steps in with a potent fighter, not some recognisable guy who's not even in the equation, like Allan Green.

Get him in with the top 7-8, gets his ass handed to him, be hilarious.

    Calzaghe

Kessler-Excellent fighter. Careers not done yet however.
Eubank-Faded elite with a bit left in the tank. Calzaghe was a novice however.
Lacy-Overhyped but was still a very good fighter. Too inexperienced and at a horrible stylistic disadvantage.
Reid-Very good fighter near his peak gave Joe fits. Bit inconsistent though.
Brewer-Good fighter and ex champ. Clearly outpointed but never dominated.
    Mitchell-Good fighter, ex-champ. Classic 2 round brawl.
Woodhall- Good fighter but faded a bit.
Sheika-At that point in time was considered hot stuff . Coming off a win over Glenn Johnson.
Bika-Considered poor at the time. Has actually proved to be a decent contender.
After that you've got a couple of competent fighters like Starie and Mger (dont ask me to spell his surname!) who few in the states will have heard of. They shouldn't be considered bums because of it though.
Veit,Pudwill and Sobot et all were pretty poor and Joe deserves criticisim for fighting them.

    Taylor
Hopkins-Faded elite who was still very tricky.
Winky-Ditto. Also out of his weight class and it showed.
Pavlik-Two tense struggles which he lost. I though the rematch Taylor won and was his best performance. Pavlik is a good fighter but short of elite although he may well improve.
Spinks-Tricky and fast but basically a midget. Poor performance by Taylor.
Ouma- Ok light middle. I'd put this on the same level as Calzaghe-Starie.

I think Calzaghe's record is better but you have to figure in that he's been around a heck of a lot longer than Taylor and so it damn well should be. A lot of Joe's early reign was wasted by fighting one good opponent then a couple ok fighters with the odd bum thrown in for bad measure. One step forward, two steps back.

Further evidence to prove how little you know about JT. Because if you knew anything about the guy, you would realize that his problem isn't avoiding top fighters. No, his problem is fighting too many of the best without taking a break. JT doesn't know how to back down from anyone. He will be fighting the best SMWs out there soon enough and making a name.

And this is honest and unbiased from someone who doesn't engage in this sort of discussion normally.

I agree. Calzaghe's opposition is evidently more difficult and more varied, Taylor's just has the bigger names, doesn't meant hat it's tougher opposition.

Calzaghe has the best prime for prime fight on his record in Kessler, a fight he absolutely outclasses a top class fighter in.

Taylor has Pavlik (whose a notch below Mikkel) and he lost both of those fights.

I'd say Joe has the better competition under his resume...at least prime for prime wise.

Cheers. I usually avoid these discussions because of their circular nature.:D I think Taylor, however might be able to make some noise at SM. He impressed me in his rematch against Pavlik and might be able to nick a title if he gets the right opponent. Say the winner of the Froch-Inkin bout. I dont think Taylors elite but he is good enough to be a welcome addition to the division
One thing is certain. With Calzaghe moving up there are a lot of decent fighters with a roughly similar ability level. We fans need to make a lot of noise to make sure that the good fights happen. None of that Bute-Joppy nonsense!

Taylor has fought the better fighters, and it really isn't even close.

hahaha,i aint no calzaghe nuthugger,i enjoy watching him box and appreciate his talents and have backed up my argument with analysis, why you my loud mouthed friend have done nothing of the sort.
i dont look to star fights with people on the internet, while you clearly do ... what is the point?saying id get smacked out in real life pffff, how can yousay that about someone you have never met,you dot know what i do or what standard of fighting i am at,and for youto say anything otherwise is simply idiotic my friend,i suggest you step back from your computer and go take a wee minute to calm down you little child.
