    Footwork is one the most important central fundamental abilities that a boxer has to master. Is there such thing as a multidimensional boxer with poor footwork?...No I don't think so because that boxer doesn't exist... Footwork in a boxers game is so often over looked and its one of the most important BY FAR

    Toney's footwork was mediocre at best. He was not good at playing aggressor for just that reason.

    Pure defensively wise his shoulder roll, footwork etc. were very good but you make a good point in that he couldn't transition to being the aggressor from a counterpuncher.

    His upperbody movement was very effective in the pocket, but he never had good footwork, which is why he fought his best in the pocket where he didn't need to move his feet much.
