Mikkel Kessler. All-time top 5 jab.

Lennox Lewis. He pawed it occasionally, but when he was on song it was as good as Holmes'. Watch the Tua fight, best use of a jab, apart from maybe Wright, that I've seen over the past 10-15 years. In fact, that's what makes the Vitali win so impressive - just about the only time Lewis abandoned that jab.

Honestly, Wlad's jab up there with LL's? Maybe one day, but sure as hell not yet.

Good list! Kessler, Winky and Wlad all have laser-jabs.

ah, this modern mythology again :patsch

Wlad's jab is faster than Lewis' and it's just as accurate and carries the same amount of power. Why would'nt it be up there with LL's?

I was a big Lewis fan, and Wlad has a better jab. That doesn't make him a better fighter, IMO, but looking just at the jabs Wlad's is better. I think Quartey's is better, mainly because he took it beyond the typical usage. The jab was his power punch.

    Agree, Quartey's jabs are excellent.

The two best right now are Kessler and Winky. Wlad right behind, but his jab is a little too slow and too often he does not use it effectively. In the fight before the Brewster fight he could have dominated every second of the fight if he had used his jab more and had a little more snap in it. The guy (too lazy to look for his name) did not have a prayer and only Wlad being a lazy bum (;-)) allowed him to even win a few rounds. In the 5th round Wlad showed what happens when he applied his jab better.

Winky's jab is also not flawless as we saw against Soliman and Soliman is good but no world beater.

I would go with Kessler's jab in current boxing.

You're insanely biased at times mate. Just because he is so reliant on his jab, doesn't make it the best. Calzaghe's is a vastly superior superior weapon, he is just better all round so doesn't need to rely on it.

    LOL.. China...

He relies on the jab because it is so good. If it was not as good as it is, he could not rely on it so much. Pretty simple really. Let's hope Calzaghe thinks like you and goes for a jabbing contest with Kessler.

Someone should make a video showcasing a minute of Kessler jabbing next to a minute of wlad jabbing. Then I am pretty sure there would be little discussion.

Just for the record... :)roll: ) I think Calzaghe has a lot of things on Kessler, but Kessler has a vastly better jab. Calzaghe's is not bad, but they are still levels apart in terms of jabs.

I can't wait to see the Danish fans' hopes dashed as early as round one when they see Calzaghe beating old Mikkel to the jab time and time again.
