Joshua. All Wilder has is a right hand that comes from left field, Wilder's left hook has not power and his jab is a joke! Joshua would knock Wilder out!
Well Joshua has beaten common opponents much quicker and with far less challenge. Having said that Joshua has never put fighters out cold like Wilder has done. I think I'd go with Wilder tbh.
Power is a curious thing.Power resides where men believe it resides. It's a trick. A shadow on the wall. And a very small man can cast a very large shadow. I went AJ.
That's quite simple to answer: Joshua fought two top 10 fighters (Wlad, Whyte). Three if you want to include Takham. He stopped all of them. Wilder has fought one (Stiverne) and couldn't stop him.
They have a different kind of power, I think AJ has a lot more weight behind his punches, even shots that land on the gloves are damaging and break people down, Wilder doesn't have the same weight behind his shots but wilder has that single shot speed and snap on the end of his punches that puts people out cold when he lands clean on the chin.
they are about the same / the koing people unconcious thing means nothing / some fighters have good chins some dont /some fighters have good recuperation powers when hurt some dont. i saw a small journeyman african drop dulhaupus with a single left hook / wilder hit him with punches that started in right field and could not deck him / does not mean the african hit harder just that dulhaupus did not see it coming and could ride it.
I think Joshua is more heavy handed. Like every punch he throws has more power. But I think Wilder has the better power punch.
Joshua has more proven power for me. Wilder hits hard and is more explosive but he's been koing guys at a lower level. Compare their performances against the same opposition. Joshua crushed Molina in 3 very one sided rounds, Joshua could of ended it whenever he wanted, while Wilder took 9 rounds to finish him and when he had Molina down in rounds 4 and 5 couldn't finish him. When Joshua landed cleanly for the first time he hurt Molina then seconds later a hard right hand drops him hard, he gets up but a he is unable to defend himself and the fight is over. Joshua basically need 3 hard shots to end it, while Molina took countless hard shots from Wilder and kept fighting. Then against Gavern. Joshua almost dropped Gavern with a jab in the first. He wasn't even hitting Gavern cleanly and had him hurt and dropped and stopped in early in the 3rd round. Gavern took the Wilder fight on 6 days notice and was out of shape, weighing several lbs more than usual. Against Joshua Gavern quickly went into survival mode once he felt Joshua's power. But against Wilder even after taking a right hand in the 2nd was pressing Wilder, he didn't seem too intimidated by his power. He took an uppercut in the 3rd and instead of being hurt looked to the camera and talked to the camera man lol. Gavern had a flash knockdown in the 3rd but seemed more annoyed than hurt complaining to the ref about being hit on the back of the head. Wilder drops Gavern with a hard right to start the 3rd but Gavern just whoops and goes right at Wilder again, letting his hands go, clearly not badly hurt. Then a combination of an uppercut and a push drops Gavern but is not counted as a knockdown. Gavern retires after the 4th round. Joshua had Gavern rolling on the floor and in survival mode quickly, but didn't seem too bothered by Wilders power, continuing to come forward in bursts and try to force Wilder back. Wilder has fought one decent heavyweight in Stiverne and was taken the distance who has been stopped before and was dropped in his next fight by Rossy. Szplika went 9 with Wilder and then in his next fight was stopped in 4 by the then unknown Kownacki. Duhaupas went 11 rounds but was stopped in 6 by Povetkin. We have yet to see how Wilder's power translates when against the top level guys. Joshua for me has more raw, clubbing power while Wilder is quicker and more explosive.
This is like the GGG / Lemieux question. Lemmy has the one shot power; GGG has the skills that pay the bills. Wilder has the one-shot power, but that's about all he has. AJ is heavy handed but also multifaceted.
