Pacquiao hits harder. Could Ortiz drop iron chin Mosley with a single punch? Ortiz may have heavier hands, but Pacquiao puts full leverage behind his punches, especially his left hand.

Hatton ran into that overhand left at its peak power arch. If Ortiz threw the same punch and Hatton was comming in the same way, I think Ortiz wouldve lifted him off his feet. As for Mosley, he was moving backwards and Pac just accelerated his backward motion with his punch and knocked him down. It was a strong punch though. Ortiz hits harder.:bbb:bbb:bbb

if pac and ortiz punches a punchbag on the same position, the same angle and say the left hand, ortiz' punch is and should be heavier. look at victor's mass against that little midget from China.

I don't know, Pac's knockdowns against Shane, Marquez and Cotto looked pretty lethal. He has that dangerous, sharp type power.

Pacquiao, and this shows in common divisions...Pacquiao has hurt and knocked out opponents of a higher level, and up against bigger, sturdier chinned opposition. Ortiz is heavy-handed, but his power is overrated since the Berto victory...Pacquiao has hurtful, concussive/raw power, and it has improved IMO over the last year as he has grown in to the division.

You could argue that Pacquiao's speed and the fact that opponents can't see the punches coming is a big factor in how he hurts people and uses his power...Cotto being an example. But then you look at the Margarito bout, Pacquiao looked slower of hand in that bout, Margarito still couldn't avoid the punches...but he hurt the iron chinned Margarito through accumulation, but also through single punches which impressed me. IMO, Ortiz would not have the power to keep someone like Margarito off him, his power would not deter him...I'd compare Ortiz's power to that of say a Cotto.

    Pacquiao just hits harder.

Pacquiao's left hand contains a great deal more power than Ortiz's. Also, mass is not everything.

Because he got knocked the **** out, face first unconscious on the ground. You've never seen Ortiz take out an elite fighter like that, and I'm 99% certain you never will. Power like that doesn't come along too often. Pac has it. Ortiz doesn't.

Ortiz wouldn't back up Cotto, he wouldn't put Clottey in a shell fearing for his life. I like Ortiz, and he's got good pop, but he's not on Pac's level when it comes to power or anything else for that matter.

Muscles mean dick when it comes to punching power. There are tons of fighters with brute physiques who couldn't crack an egg. In fact, usually the really heavy punchers are the tall skinny types like Arguello or Saddler. It's a natural gift, you have to be born with it. You can develop your power somewhat with technique and practice, but the really massive punchers are pretty much just born that way.

I rarely venture over this border for it's often futile to reason with *****s, but you ******s have to stop putting the Ortiz fight up on a pedestal.

Pac dropped iron chinned Mosley with 1 punch and stunned iron beard Margarito in more than one occassion.
Oh and yeah, he dropped Barrera, Diaz, JMM (multiple times), and the only person to ever knocked EM out twice in the lower weights.
This is not to incldue that famous interview of Sasakul even.
Ortiz' opposition doesn't even come close to that.

This is pathetic. Really really pathetic.
