Vs. Garcia.... I watched the entire fight back after it happened, I recently re-watched it... I know normally you're not supposed to judge his possible performance vs Pac based on that fight... BUT, there are many big question Marks over Margarito's head. Does he actually have the power without the Wraps? I know many will argue that there is no way to know if he was using them prior to Mosley... Against Garcia, who's a good guy... but a complete tomato can... Margarito couldn't even get the guy bruised up or swollen... and he was landing on him too. Garcia would push Margarito back at many different times during the fight, Margarito simply looked like ****, is this due to his layoff? or something else... With 10z gloves on Margarito didn't seem like he had any power or snap on any punch he threw. And he looked very very sluggish and slow. If you haven't watched this fight, please do so.. or at least parts of it... and let me know what you think. Pac is gonna have an easy time with Margarito in my opinion, and even with 10oz gloves on... I think Pac will stop him sooner than Mosley did. Pac is gonna come out looking like a beast, this is a david vs goliath type of size difference... the general public is gonna perceive Pacquiao much higher after this one. Arum is very smart.
I saw it some time back. He didn't look like he was in great shape. He's looking like a beast today with a month still to go before the fight. He looked slower than ever in that last fight in Mexico. Expect a better version against Pac.
Completely agree on this point. When I see the pictures of Margarito training I got the feeling he could win but when I watched some old fights I really dont see how he'll be able to deal with Pacquiao speed. Pacman camp makes it sound like Manny is having trouble but I got the feeling that as soon as he'll arrive at the Wild card he will be in beast-mode. And people who are now doubting will get back to pick him as the winner.
Pac's a good action fighter but I haven't been excited about his fight since he took on JMM. That was honestly the last time I felt Pac would be in a competitive fight. Sadly, for me at least, the empty feeling for a Pac fight continues. Pwill-Sergio 2 more than makes up for it though. I'll probably skip the Pac fight and watch it as a B side the following weekend on HBO along with Paul/Sergio's fight.
great post and I think this fight does matter. I did not see the fight, but heard Margarito was not aggressive. My guess is he will be aggressive against Manny, but that Manny's speed will win the fight for Manny on a UD.
did you see the part where Margarito decked Garcia? Cause you didn't mention it at all in the first post. It's like it never happened. Margarito is gonna be in much better shape against Pac than he was against Mosley. I read an article yesterday where Margo's manager stated that he had to lose 39 pounds in 7 weeks against Mosley. He struggled to make the weight and was far from his best.
not only that....but he decked him in the FIRST round. A whole bunch of people talk a lot of nonsense about how margarito looked like **** in his last fight...He looked like **** because of two reasons!!!!! A) His trainer told him not to stand in his face and fight. He told him to box (i know, margarito isn't a "boxer", and he'd rather brawl), and that's what margarito did, MOVE AROUND...he listened to his corner. he wasn't concerned about going all out and beating the **** out of garcia like he did against golden johnson....even tho margarito definitely could have, as you saw him floor garcia in round one. The second reason is obviously ring rust...it had been over a year since the mosley incident and he hadn't had many rounds in the ring. So he didn't want to end the fight, but rather gain more experience. Now...if you think it will be THIS version of margarito that will go up against pacquiao...then you are completely mistaken :good
