I remember after the Smith fight Tyson commented that Smith was so strong,Tyson never relied on strength he relied on speed/power. Joshua is a far bigger man and more than likely is stronger than Tyson but for power you can’t look past Iron Mike in this one .

When it seems reasonably arguable between two fighters based on their muscular appearances, it’s impossible to say who was/is literally stronger.

Demonstrated strength per weight lifting is essentially anecdotal amongst fighters it seems.

For example, what is actually the best lift of any other type officially and unequivocally recorded for a boxer?

And even if A is proven to be stronger than B via, say, an officially recorded bench press, B might still be seen to easily manhandle A in the ring.

Some fighters might simply apply whatever raw strength they do have far more than other fighters in the ring.

Also, they might incorporate better grappling technique, leverage etc. in supplement to their raw strength.

Shorter fighters, even if literally stronger, are dimensionally disadvantaged in so far as applying their strength with optimal leverage.

I would say that Mike was at least on par with AJ’s power, likely more - but perhaps taking more energy and effort on Mike’s part to remain comparable.

Some of the bigger HWs can have “lazy” power - not necessarily mustering themselves for big shots or their best shots but still hitting very hard at a minimum with their each and every shot all the same.

I would put Lennox Lewis in that category. A tremendous hitter even at 3/4 throttle and off the charts when fully committed.

Second career Foreman also demonstrated a similar type of casual power imo.

If you look at photos of them in their teen years you can see Mike was a genetic beast who naturally had a thick muscled frame, AJ was built like Obama in his teens. He built up his body through intensive weight training.

I don't brush AJ off as a "bodybuilder" as muscle is muscle but Mike was one of a kind in that regard and AJ is just a level below.
