Beterbiev is getting old and with no massive payday in sight I'll bet he'll try and cash in on the Canelo fight. Of course Canelo and his team will only agree to the fight if Beterbiev agrees to not throw any hard punches like they did with Kovalev.

As to the question - Bivol has the best chance

Bivol, not saying he'd win though.

Bivol. Maybe Joe Smith Jr. can land a haymaker, though.

Such a dominant force, I think he has to slip a bit to give opponents a chance

I want to say Bivol but I really don’t think he has the power or size to get Beterbiev’s respect.

Guys a brute. But he is 34 and has had 15 pro fights and is in a weak era. Give the man his props, but what?

Compared to boxing as a whole right now, light-heavyweight is pretty good. But compared to the rest of light-heavyweight history, it's really quite thin. Add that to Beterbiev being a very a dominant fighter, and it's pretty hard to see him losing. Especially when the second best fighter in the division is made to order, stylistically.

I don't think Bivol out-boxing Beterbiev is particularly likely. Less so than Smith's chances of landing a nuclear bomb which Beterbiev can't recover from. Same with a rematch vs Johnson. I also think that Canelo goes the distance and gets a decision. Although I'd pick Bivol to beat all three of those, with the exception of Smith, who he's obviously already beat.

You have a link that states Kovalev was paid not to throw hard punches? If not, how do you know this?
