Frazier’s prime was ended brutally by Foreman in 73. So he was past prime in the 2nd and 3rd fights.

I always say the Ali that met Frazier the first time was not prime. Although he has a chance at out pointing him. I don’t see any boxer out pointing him in prime so I’d go more w the best swarmers Marciano Frazier Tyson. But I still don’t think any of them out point him at least the one that met Liston the first time. Then again I am an Ali fan boy so who knows

Holmes and Holyfield are my picks .If Norton could do it I can seeThe real deal pulling off a similar way .Perhaps the Holyfield that beat Bowe ,using his brain rather than trying to batter the bigger man .

No one really has a good chance in my estimation to outpoint Ali at his peak but...

    Holmes
    Lewis
    Holyfield
    Frazier
    Tunney if he's very lucky
    The Klistchko brothers
Maybe Fury if he's in top shape on a really good night
    Jack Johnson
Ezzard Charles if he's durable enough
Roy Jones possibly, if we imagine he bulks up to 190+ while still prime, but again quite unlikely

Just for good measure I'd be curious to see how long Billy Conn or Jim Corbett can last.
I think they do surprisingly well if they're not knocked out.

In short, I think only three types have a chance:

Big, rangy guys who jab and spoil

Really slick guys who are in that sweet spot of being slightly smaller with more stamina but large and durable enough to last to the final bell

Pressure fighters with an incredible work rate, and/or exceptional countering abilities. (Holyfield and Frazier are the only two I'd put on this list.)

I think Tyson has next to zero chance of outpointing Ali. If he does't knock him out by the fifth his goose is not merely cooked but cremated.

I think Tyson could if Ali gave away rounds by trying to survive

My keys to defeat prime Ali is a great jab and great foot speed prime Tyson and Frazier had the foot speed, (And the left hook) Holmes had the jab, possibly the best in heavy history, and his foot speed was above average. Fighting a prime Ali, his opponent would have to be able to cut the ring off effectively, also have the ability to slip his jab, and be in position to counter effectively. Tyson and Frazier had those abilities, plus the "ace in hole" big left hooks. Holmes had the ability to match jabs with Ali, though Holmes jab was not quite as fast, it would be fast enough as a counter jab plus Holmes jab was much harder. Those are the 3 I could see possibly beating Ali between 65 and 68. Though in my opinion Ali between 65 and 68, I haven't seen the Heavy yet who would've beaten him.

An opinion that's tough to disagree with.

I agree. But maybe a 12 rounder in his prime if he scores a knock down or two. But I def pick Ali

I think if we change the fight to 12 rounds it opens up a lot of fighters chances, 15 rounds suited the slightly smaller sized heavies. I'd expect Wlad to give Ali absolute fits over 12 rounds.

    I think only Frazier.
Against prime Ali Frazier falls just short though.
