McCall, no question. Chuvalo was getting rocked left and right by Foreman and would have been KO'd before too long. Lewis could not even dent McCall's chin over 6 rounds before McCall had a mental breakdown.

Very reasonable post, though when I watch McCall I feel he just CAN'T be hurt by anyone (Fedor Em has a good point as well). That's why I pick Oliver at #1.

Tex Cobb. Saw his fight with Larry Holmes, man, that was one hell of a beating he got but he never went down. Holmes won all 15 rounds.

You guys make a great case for Chuvalo, but I'm surprised there's not a stronger contingent pullingfor Muhammad Ali! First of all he was never actually knocked out. Even in that atrocious fight with Larry Holmes it was angelo Dundee who stopped it... His three wars with Frazier he wore a lifetime of world beating left hooks, fell down once but heard the scorcards every time... And to invent something as crazy as the rope-a-dope against a young Foreman, and actually pull it off you've gotta be made of tough stuff...
Also... He also fought all the guys that Chuvalo fought (Shavers, Quarry, Frazier, blah blah blah) and beat them...
I guess it comes down to what you rate higher; Getting badly stuned to the point where the referee stops the fight or taking a knockdown but going the distance...

    Man...quite a list, isn't it?

I don't even think I can pick just one. I would say it's between Chuvalo, Ali and McCall.

Yeah, it's on YouTube... It was actually here in Sydney, one of the bouncers from a bar I used to work at told me about it years ago... I don't even think it reaches the 1:00 minute mark...

McCall. I know he hasnt had an illustrious career, but I think anyone who saw the second Lewis fight would agree with me. He was crying in the ring, taking flush power shots from Lewis to the head, it did NOTHING. He wasnt even noticing he was getting hit, it was surreal.
