McCall was never knocked down in his whole career. Ali was knocked down by a 190 pound Henry Cooper :deal
Yeah plus Ali was knocked senseless by Frazier's left hook, while Chuvalo never hit the canvas. I think Chuvalo takes this one. He's had way more fights than McCall, fought tougher opposition, and was only stopped by Frazier and Foreman. By the time he fought Foreman he had been a pro boxer for 15 years. I think Chuvalo in his prime (1964-1966 or so) would have taken out Foreman. My vote goes to Chuvalo. No disrespec to McCall, but had he been born 30 years earlier, we could make a realistic comparison between the two.
but heard a while back that chuvalo was dropped a few times by bonavena when they fought but the knockdowns werent counted, any of you see the fight?
McCall got my vote, Lewis unleashed bombs on him and he never even wobbled. Plus he was well used as a prime Tysons sparring partner due to his resilience.
Watch the Seldon and Douglas fights, and you'll see McCall on the verge of some real trouble. McCall had a great chin, but it might be a tad over rated is Seldon could have him reeling. For what its worth, McCall said Bert Cooper hit him the hardest.
not sure what all the fuss is over oliver mccalls chin...... who the hell chin checked him that had any real power? somehow in his long 90s run he never fought tyson bowe morrison mercer ruddock moorer witherspoon foreman holyfield tua thats 10 pretty big bombers so yeah he fought Lewis....other than that, hardly another decent guy on his resume that was a deadly puncher
There really is no other option. Chuvalo has the greatest chin in history, bar none, and that goes beyond just the Heavyweight division.
Ali I think.... Fought some of the hardest punchers ever...Liston, Frazier, Foreman... not a huge heavyweight and beat them all.
Definately. A small heavyweight fighting prospects until he was 50 years old, & they still couldn't hurt him!!
