most developed, probably loma. most natural, bam rodriguez. most underated, probably spence and canelo. least known, probably xander zayas. this kid has very efficient footwork for his particular style. it is very subtle, but highly efficient. he uses small skips and pivots to position himself at his range, and to keep that range at all times. and he does it in a way that he is never out of balance, so he is always in position to apply full leverage to his shots. it allows him to make opponents pay in positions that they used to get away with. or where others couldnt catch them with hard shots before. xander was just in the right position with a fully balanced center of gravity. i have often said balance is the most important aspect of effective boxing, and this kid has a natural feel for it. hes got fast enough legs to position himself anywhere instantly, balanced and ready to leverage his shot.
Within the realm of the kind of footwork boxers are supposed to have, there are a number of very high quality guys. They, for the most part, have already been mentioned. Ennis, Bam Rodriguez, Usyk and a few others. It's only Vasyl Lomachenko who has footwork that boxers aren't supposed to have or train to do. Lomachenko has the best footwork I have ever seen. He creates angles and openings that almost all other boxes will never see,.
