Valuev was too slow(even in his prime) to beat the quick HWs with his jab. Now, put an immobile fighter like Barrett or Ruiz or Sergei in front of him and he likely could KO someone with his jab.

If you had watched Haye vs Valuev and Haye vs Wlad you would be able to see he fought two completely different fights.

Against Valuev he literally ran, looking to pot shot with jabs to the body and right hands.

Against Wlad was completely different. He stood in front of Wlad for the majority with his hands by his waist asking Wlad to commit while he tried to counter with left hooks and over hand rights.
