It's bears mentioning. You're just letting your hate for the guy get the best of you. I think Morrison and Tua had the best left hooks in the division. They were SPECIALISTS who made their careers on that punch. Holyfield, Patterson and Henry Cooper all great left hooks.

I think his hook was a bit underrated. He hurt Liston with it in the first fight, check hooked Mildenberger to the mat at one point and pretty much ended his fight with the durable Bonavena with a single hook. But I'd still hesitate to put him on a list of heavyweight hookers, yeah. Or, at least, I'd put older fighters like Louis, Marciano and Dempsey above him as being worthy of consideration.

It wasn't a single hook that ended bonavena but I see your point

Well, it was a single hook that produced the first kd, I think. Bonavena went down a couple more times, but he was more or less done after he went down the first time. Ali wasn't about to let him off the hook given the animosity he felt toward him. But you see my point, and I also see yours. There are other heavyweights who had better hooks, I think.

Dempsey deserves being on the list at least.

I think Tuas hook is overrated. Packed insane power but he had a lot of trouble landing it on top opponents - that counts for something.

    Lewis had an underrated hook.

I think the best hook ever belongs to Holyfield. Not exactly a popular opinion, as Evander isn't an elite puncher, but he was so versatile with it and knew how to land it when it mattered the most. Foreman said Holyfields hook to the body was one of the hardest punches he ever took. Evanders counter left hook cracked some of the hardest chins in the division. Put Bowe right on his ass, and knocked down Mercer when guys like Morrison and Lewis couldn't, despite throwing the kitchen sink at him. Look at the Dokes knockout! He snuck in a left hook counter while Dokes was throwing a combo! His speed, precision and timing was absolutely perfect.

Ken Norton had a better left hook than Alex Pedman.

Marciano had another great left hook.

You act like a kid with ADHD... Which is why everyone gives you a hard time on here. Anyways, Povetkin has a great left hook and OP included it in his OP. Not going to derail the thread defending Povetkin.

Morrison had a better left hook than Tyson? Despite Tyson annihilating Williams with a left hook in round one and Morrison going life and death with a washed up Willams?? lolol

Bonavena went down 3 times which automatically caused a knockout but yes the first knockdown was caused by the left hook you are referencing if you watch the tape back Ali actually pushes the referee out of his way to score the third knockdown

Tyson was a better all around fighter than Morrison, but Morrison had a better left hook. Nice Triangle theory though.
