Alot of that is down to opinion. I think the Frazier win is a top win that is probably the greater win out of all their wins, but not so sure about some of the others you note and for the overall...
Do you think those wins overall are greater than Byrd, Haye, Povetkin, Peter, Brewster, Mercer, Botha, Schulz, Ibragimov, Rahman, Thompson.

Well done for having a go at answering and not ducking like Herol has become known for.

    I forgot to mention Moorer.

Wlad beat past prime Byrd for his major belt. Foreman beat prime Moorer when he was way pst prime for the lineal crown.

Foremen by miles. If Wlad had faced Foreman competition he would of had at least 8 or 9 losses.

Record as in numbers? or Quality of opponents?

Forman has Ali, Frazier, Norton & Holy as Class A+ opponents

    Wladimir has no A+ opponents

    Vitali has Lennox Lewis

Lennox Lewis has Vitali, Tyson & Holy (all A-, past their prime or never A+)

    Just clearing up things :thumbsup

the funny thing is wlad makes the era look weak by being so superior. h2h i would bet my house on wlad to eat foremans fraziers and alis alive
this is the era of superheavyweights...just like lennox lewis would walk through all those guys just the same...i know its disrespectful to compare past champs...but in all honesty. athletes are better...sprinters are faster, ppl ski faster, messi > pele, wlad >ali.... sports athletes get better over time...

    Thats fine:

In Forman era the top 2 Heavywieghts were Ali & Frazier 2-1

In Wlad era the top 2 Heavywieghts were Lennox & Vitali 0-0

Wlad brother helped him eliminating some threats and hurt him by disputing his reign

    Thanks, yeah.

I'm really turning more and more on the idea of a couple "top wins" defining a career. It's fool's gold.

There are fighters like McCall, Rahman, Douglas, Maxim, Bowe, Layne, Ray, Schemling that have one or two or even three wins that are as magnificent as any in the division, but we can't seriously rank them above fighters like Wlad, Tyson, and Holmes who may lack that single great win but were just so much more successful overall. Not to say Foreman is a one or two hit wander at all, but I do believe his resume lacks depth after Frazier and Norton. Kirkman, Moorer, and Lyle are the next tier, and it gets even more desolate after that.

boxing is more global nowadays as opposed to the eras foreman fought in. wlad's reign is incredible, simply and utterly dominate for the past 10 years. foreman was a beast, but never supplanted himself as the #1. wladimir made adjustments in his game and has not looked back since

Indeed he did. Not sure that I think former LHW Moorer was better than some of Wlads wins, but a good win at the time no doubt and Wlad is also the champ.
As said you are one of the few that has thought about it. I look at overall careers rather than just one win, which may be great but doesnt define a whole career. You are right that Schmeling has a great HW win, better than most, but he isnt thought of as a top 3 HW because you have to look at the whole career.

My initial post to this was

I feel that for an overall career it and longevity as a champ and defences it would have to go to Wlad, but Forema does have that very good win over Frazier, though I think the era was not as strong as people would like to make out, but just had even money fights rather than a dominant champ. Wasnt Frazier blind in one eye? I seem to recall reading or hearing that somewhere.

Wlad has been ko'ed 3 times and never even faught a HOFer, most overrated world Champ of all time, IMO he loses to all the top 10 HW greats ......

Their resumes are not even comparable

Dominate my ass everyone knows he's picked and choosed his fighters using brother in the weakest HW division ever, not to mention the illegal clinchng he's been using since his chin was exposed, let's face it without his natural weight and height advantage he would be nothing

IMO his brother is twice the fighter he is
