bailey, How many times have we discussed this? Why do you always try and do like for like comparisons, asking questions such as "Did Kessler say to Ward..... Did Froch say to Dirrell....."? Everyone has a different set of circumstances surrounding them. Ward had won the super six, and he fractured his hand in two places. He was more than happy to take a back seat, to heal and to rest, while Froch fought Bute. There was nothing wrong with that. Now if Bute had've beaten Froch, the whole boxing world, me included, would have demanded a Ward vs Bute fight. If Bute had've won, and Ward hadn't have fought him, then I would have been the first one to have jumped on Ward. But after Froch had destroyed Bute, nobody was interested in him and Ward getting together. You've got it into your mind, that Ward blatantly ducked Bute. But there's no real evidence to support that theory. Ward was entitled to a rest. Why would Ward have asked Rodriguez to have fought someone else first? Ha! Again, irrelevant comparisons. Ward's circumstances were different in 2011, to what they were in 2013. Rodriguez was a comeback fight, after a lengthy lay off.
you know as well as I do that you have to read between the lines with bailey if something doesn't seem genuine, then you just have to size up what angle he's playing :good sincerity is not his friend
Ha! Absolutely bonkers isn't it? I think that Roy's win over Toney, was better than Collins' win over Eubank. I believe that, due to the following reasons: (IMHO) Toney was better than Eubank. Roy's victory was more emphatic. Bailey thinks that Collins's win was better, solely based on the fact that Eubank had an overall better resume at SMW than Toney. It seems that nothing else needs to be taken into consideration.
err I see a discrepancy here Calzaghe did not beat Hopkins, Oh yeah he got a gift decision but he didn't really win. Joe knows that himself hence the refusing a rematch at home in Wales,
Mikkel Kessler lost every time he faced one of the best, save his victory over Carl Froch. I think Chris Eubank was a by far superior boxer all together. You can argue that Kessler still had the biggest victory in his career ahead of him when Ward beat him up, thus him beeing more relevant at that point compared to Eubank. But in my book, a Eubank who still is able to perform is really something to have on your resume. Wards victories looks more convincing in general compared to Calzaghes. In fact, Calzaghe looked vulnurable even when he was winning. Kessler hit him with some really painfull and clean shots, and when he started to rally at the end of the fight I think he was about to soften Calzaghe up. But I only judge from the outcome, and don't care overly much about what goes down during the fights. It would get to complicated to bring that into the equation :huh (With a notable exception for Calzaghes win over Hopkins. It must be counted as an important win, but man did the boxers look like **** in that fight.)
Jones-Toney was one of the biggest non HW fights in the middle of the 90's and that is saying something in that great Era. When I judge that win, I realize what Toney had also done at MW, and what he would go on to do at CW and even HW. That win was bigger than SMW, It was a showdown of two great rivals that made their name at MW and would both move up in weight and have success. That was not only a SMW championship fight, but a battle for p4p supremacy. That fight, was to decide who was the best boxer alive. For the reasons I stated, It blows any singe SMW win out of the water in my opinion. I have also read that Europeans care nothing of the P4P rankings, I am not saying this is not true, but it is hard for me to believe. I think had Joe Calzaghe reached the honor of the best P4P fighter in the world, we would be hearing all about it. He came pretty close actually.. I had him at #2 when he retired.
Some fighters arent able to compete the same when at different weight divisions. If you feel its a failed stance, then please explain G Johnson and J Taylor to name a few.
I only skimmed this post due to how the last one finished and straight away saw you were not being honest and truthful again. Ward didnt sit back, he said he wasnt interested in Bute and mentioned Kessler and didnt sit back and fought Dawson. Please stop the BS Loudon. Do you think Ward broke his hand in the fight or went in with it broken, when he delayed the fight months in advance due to a small cut that I recall someone saying would have been healed before fight time
No. I respect views. On the basis they are commenting and dont know the history or fights and fighters. How is sincerity not a friend? Do you mean because many are not sincere when they post and I have to give details they were not aware of, like I have with yourself previously?
Greetings Mind Reader. I will add that you are one of my favourite posters, whether I agree with you or not, as I believe that you post with honesty. At MW Toney had a decent run, but really it is similar in a way to Froch, in that you sometimes have to break it down. He was behind against Nunn before the finish, the Johnson fight he was put down and it was very debateable, the Tiberi fight was very debateable, the McCallum fights were very debateable. there are some that find those debateable ones to be losses. At SMW he didnt do much of note, then at LHW he wasnt a factor, at CW he has the Jirov win and tell me, what were Jirovs 5 best wins, or his biggest win at that?
