Honestly, this is an easy fight to call, Ward wins a wide UD, Calzaghe is a level below, simply not skilled enough to cope. I remember people telling me I was talking **** when I told them that Ward was going to totally outclass Kessler, Ward hadn't fought anyone comparable to Kessler at that point either, but some us understand what we see when we watch a fighter and can call these things.
Calzaghe is inaccurate, constantly squares up, stays in the pocket and has a leaky defence. His workrate and constant throwing of punches(slaps) would actually work against him here as Ward dictates the distance, evades Calzaghe with ease and picks apart from the outside (mainly right hand counters) and bullies him on the inside. Calzaghe's style combined with his lack of power is perfect for Ward, a bad style match up for Ward is a short, powerful, physically strong, come forward fighter with a good inside game and sound defence, someone like Montell Griffin for example would be a tougher fight for Ward than Calzaghe.
Calzaghe obviously doesn't possess the skills needed to beat Ward but he can try and outgass an older version of him, he might just be able to. He has a proven track record for pulling this off, that's the only reason why I mentioned it.
it certainly not the stance of someone sane. he keeps running away from the points I raise, so expect the same for this post too.
Toney fought Nunn at mw and Jones fought Sosa at lhw On topic: None of the above resumes are that great. Most of those guys really have one solid win and a lot of okay wins. For the time being I'm going with Ward
You dont have an arguement. THERE IS A SMW DIVISION. It is further irrelevance from you as there is a SMW division. Now you go play alternate universe elsewhere, whilst I debate with the serious boxing fans who have some relevance
Prime Calzaghe would win inside the distance, old Calzaghe would win a very wide UD. Wards holding and mauling is ok with Calzaghe leftovers, but not the real thing, who would unload combinations, that would win him a clear decision atsch. Agenda Zod Soon we will have the tier system, that had Bute as an A level before the Froch loss. Obviously didnt really follow the division a few years back, like you make out
yes Barry you are completely correct, Ward is way too skilled for Calzaghe who would go the distance, but just cannot land at a high enough rate, he misses too much, but he isn't missed himself by Wards accuracy.
Lets just pretend there was no SMW division atsch. I didnt say you said anything, I just wasnt going to play alternate universe with you, because like many of your posts, its irrelevant because there is a SMW division Only Herol could carry on like this
