bailey, Prime Calzaghe would have won inside the distance? Stop accusing people of not having watched boxing a few years back, just because they don't agree with you.
I wish I possessed but a tiny fraction of Bailey's energy for these kind of debates. I admire his commitment and fortitude. This thread was created by one of the biggest, most mentally deranged and obsessed Calzaghe haters out there and almost every hardcore Calzaghe hater on ESB, some of whom are clearly seriously psychologically disturbed, has pounced on it like a randy dog spewing their usual brand of venom and bile. Bailey's having to try and hold it down on his Jack Jones under a relentless fifty-pronged attack. lol
Hold on for a moment. I don't intend to get dragged into yours and Baileys never ending debate, but Ward avoiding Bute is a big issue considering his legacy. Take "a back seat", "beeing entitled to a rest" and so on means nothing. Boxers are supposed to box. Bute was number two at SMW. He attracted many customers at home soil. Ward attracts few customers, no mather where he fights. So it would make sense from a financial point of veiw to set up the fight in Canada. The people around Ward would expect him to travel away from his comfort zone, but that is not Wards style of boxing, unlike Calzaghe who often traveled in order to get fights done. Thats why Ward ducked Bute. I'm not disrespecting Ward. Head to head, he may be the best SMW ever. But he has a pattern, and it should not be overlooked.
lol, cheers. Nah, I only skim through threads like this, reading only perhaps 10-15% of what gets written at most. Sometimes I do get tempted though. I almost contemplated launching into an attack on you regarding your contention that Ward didn't duck Bute. Maybe next time. lol
bailey, Eubank was more proven at SMW, not as a whole. What's wrong with you? Chad Dawson is/was more proven at LHW than Joe Calzaghe. That's a fact. So can nobody say that Joe was better than Chad at LHW? Why do you keep saying that I don't agree that Eubank had a better overall SMW resume? I've agreed with you twice, and this is the third time. IMHO, I think that Eubank's SMW resume was better than Toney's. But that does not automatically mean that he was a better fighter. Again, how can Roy emphatically beating Toney, not be as good as Collins getting a debatable decision over Eubank? It doesn't make sense. Read my previous posts. I've already taken that into account, along with other factors. Based on their overall body of work. If I started a thread on a fantasy fight between Chad and Joe at LHW, are you telling me that you wouldn't take into account what Joe had done at SMW, before sharing your opinion? When I look at a guy's form guide, I look at what they did a few fights before going in. Because what's the point in going further back, if their circumstances have changed over time? Again, you have to take lots of things into consideration. Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson didn't knock out the Roy Jones that had beaten Griffin in a round. Just like how Collins didn't beat the Eubank that had beaten Watson, and a young ferocious Nigel Benn. It was over a guy that was proven as a whole, and considered by fighters, trainers, promoters, and historians, as one of the best fighters on the planet. Again, this has already been taken into account. If you'd actually read what I've wrote previously, then you'll see that what you've wrote above, is absolute nonsense. I've repeatedly explained my criteria, very clearly, using logic. Against everyone who he ever fought. You're being ridiculous! No it's not. Who did more at MW? Who did more as a whole? Are we not allowed to take into consideration what Toney did at MW, because that's a different weight? Ha! Again, I'll use Joe as an example. If discussing a fight between him and Chad (or any more accomplished LHW) could we not take into account what he'd done against Lacy and Kessler etc? Because I'm pretty sure that if anyone made a thread, you'd be straight in there giving your opinion. It's irrelevant if you only take into account their SMW resumes, and NOTHING ELSE. What do you mean definitely not? Toney had knocked out two good fighters, and Eubank had beaten Wharton and got a gift against Schommer. No, I'm trying to be objective, and I'm looking at all angles, and not just the one, like what you've repeatedly done. I haven't looked at one fight. I've looked at a few fights before, a few after, and considered many other factors. Ha! You do make me laugh.
I respect your opinion. I want you to get dragged in. Ha! IMHO, if Bute had've beaten Froch, I truly believe we'd have seen a Ward vs Bute fight. I don't think he ducked him. That's me being honest. He was injured during the Froch fight, and he needed time to heal afterwards. He was more than content to sit back and watch Froch vs Bute, and I don't think there was anything wrong with that. He'd just won the Super Six, and I'm not going to call it a duck, just because he didn't push for the fight straight after. But I certainly would have done had Bute beaten Froch. After Froch's blow out, nobody wanted it. So again, I respect your opinion, but it doesn't constitute as a duck in my opinion.
Ha! It's cool that we all have different opinions. Launch the attack. Ha! That's just reminded me of Naz's old interviews where he used to talk about his two rocket launchers.
its boring you saying my posts are irrelevant, frankly, when other point out my points (not just this one, but all the others you have so far ignored) are relevant. either answer or just don't bother, don't pretend its not relevant like the fox who cant get his grapes. this is about YOU not considering it, not anyone else - others have shown they can consider it. Why cant you suppose it for a moment when others can? because it blows your argument out of the water, that's why. but don't fuss, you just keep running, at least you can be consistent in your replies that way.
oh look, it's Herol in a Thread that has some Calzaghe about it. what a surprise. Bailey, stop wasting your time with this complete and utter ****.
He was injured during the final of the Super Six, with a double fracture of his hand. That was December, 2011. He didn't get the all clear to resume training, until mid February of the following year. You're right, he didn't want Bute at that time. Again, he was happy to take a back seat. But I don't see as a duck. It was his prerogative. He didn't say he'd never fight Bute, and I've no need to think that he wouldn't have done down the line, had Bute beaten Froch. But after Froch had destroyed Bute, there was no call for the fight. He then took on Chad in September. So how can you jump on a guy that won the Super Six whilst injured, just because he didn't want to make the Bute fight immediately afterwards?
