I wouldnt rank him 2nd either.
As its on resume, I would have it something like Calzaghe, Eubank, Ottke, after that I can see various arguements, but struggle to see how people can overlook the resume of Ottke and Eubank, let alone Calzaghe

you'll sell your soul to defend froch, while bailey and hans will sell their soul for calzaghe
i'm looking forward to hearing how either of you want to defend eubank or froch without using bogus belts or 'rock, paper, scissors' hypothetical wins

    How many more times?

Roy wasn't struggling with the weight for the Tarver rematch.

Glen Johnson also destroyed him, four years prior to him facing Joe.

Joe said a fight between him and Roy would be pointless, because he was past his best.

Nothing you say will change those facts.

Johnson, Tarver and Green don't get much credit for beating Roy, so it shouldn't be any different for Joe.

I was referring to a fighters circumstances.

You said that just because a fighter hurts his hand in a fight, it doesn't mean that's his best win.

    Of course you're right.

But again, it all depends on the circumstances, the magnitude of the fight etc.

I think Froch is Ward's best win.

Because Froch is a very good fighter, who destroyed Bute etc, after Ward had beaten him relatively easy with a double fracture.

    are you crazy?
don't you know that a fighter is never as good once he loses his '0' (which conveniently cuts off the umbilical chord leading from calzaghe to ward) for ward's destruction of froch and Kessler?

    bailey,

Of course it's only my opinion.

Most of he threads on the forum are based on opinion.

But my opinions are always based on logic, taking numerous things into consideration.

STOP narrowing it down to just SMW.

I think that Toney had more overall ability than Eubank, based on his WHOLE career.

If you won't take into consideration what he he did in his entire career, then you aren't being open to a real debate.

So basically, you can't answer my hypothetical question?

Tell me what your question was, and I'll answer it truthfully.

    Afterwards, you can answer mine.

Of course Chad has better wins at LHW.

    Not just the resume.

The resume along with other factors, allowing for certain circumstances etc.

The thread title as nothing to do with it.

You only want to debate on your terms.

Everyone can see the manner in which you're debating.

We're having a debate regarding Toney, and you're asking me to tell you what Toney's best wins are?

I shouldn't need to tell you.

ANYONE who knows anything about Toney, knows what his best wins are.

Sosa, Reggie, Nunn, McCallum, Barkley and Littles etc, were all good-great wins.

Do you think that he was unfairly regarded as one of the best fighters in the world when Roy fought him?

I respect your opinion here, but I don't agree.

IMHO, Bernard moved up to LHW, because there wasn't anything else he could do at MW, after he'd failed to win the rematch with Taylor.

I don't think he was finding MW tough, and I think he was highly motivated to fight Taylor.

Below are a few things to consider:

    1. When fighting at MW, his walking around weight was only three to four pounds over.

    2. He's meticulous when it comes to training and his diet, and he once missed his sister's wedding while in camp.

    3. He was immensely proud of his MW record, and he wanted to add to it with every fight.

    4. He was extremely motivated to fight Taylor, to get one over on Lou DiBella, after DiBella had won a recent lawsuit against him.

    5. He was even more motivated for the rematch, because he felt he'd been robbed in the first fight.

So all things considered, I think Bernard lost both fights, and had trouble, due to a clash of styles.

Taylor didn't really get huge credit for those wins.

Which is one of the reasons why I don't see why Joe should get huge credit.

so how do you justify a eubank (or a froch) being ranked ahead of andre ward?

Now you are going to argue with Jones himself.
I have shown you this before Loudon, so you are arguing just for the sake of it and wasting time.
Jones own words/end of that subject

Froch is debateable but Eubank, just look at his resume and tell me how ward has a greater resume.
Eubank beat undefeated Rocchigiani and I know you dont like titles being mentioned, so forget the fact Rocch was an undefeated relinquished SMW champ, but look at how Rocch looked unfortunate to many against Maske, unfortunate to many against Michalczewski, beat Nunn and then look at the way Eubank went to Germany and won, So Eubank has on his resume, Rocchigiani, Benn, Malinga, Holmes, Watson and that isnt all. How do you think wards resume is above that?

Yet you ignore Kessler beat Froch when faded and suffering with vision problems. You seem to skim over that and once again just want to argue

calzaghe was the best at SMW. he retired, the super six was held (yes, without bute, which definitely was a sticking point at the time), and ward won
I appreciate that you're not leaping into the belts on this, but you never have to when a fighter is legit
calzaghe and ward are the best SMW's there have ever been, because nobody else has dominated the division like they have
no belts, no undefeated records, it's not needed
