noworries, I admire Joe for what he did, enjoyed some of his fights (Kessler and lacy) and admire his awesome longevity of 21 defences and a true legend for wales and Britain. I see it exactly as it is, both pros and cons - and Joe DID fight Jones 4 years after he got demolished, and he DID cowardly showboat against the shot2**** legend, that's a big con like I said.
but you have a bee in your bonnet when it comes to calzaghe being ranked above froch at SMW, and there is no reasonable argument for challenging that
true, but if you shared my disappointment at finding out the guy who you've only just heard of properly thatyou were cheering on in his last fight against Lacy then proceeded to choose oldies and flee the decent matchups, bully his wife and was a cocaine freak then you'd be kinda unhappy too. A Brit legend who failed to deliver at the top level more than a few times, its just a crying shame, really it is. Barry Mcguigan had more meaningful rounds in the ring, and that's saying something, Barry was true flash in the pan at world level. Personally I think it is wrong to **** on your fans by trying to pass off domestic opposition as world title competition again and again. I am not a fan of this pretence and fakery and lack of respect but if joe thrives on it then fair play to him for pissing on bailey and co.
Bailey, I noticed you have taken into account what Rocch did at LHW as to why Eubank's win at SMW was a good one. Wouldn't it only be fair to do as well with Toney's great wins at MW, Who also beat a much better Michael Nunn?
Hey man, how's it going? Have you read this entire thread? He only debates on his terms. He twists and turns and debates by stats. But he's the most entertaining poster on this forum, and is my favourite poster to debate with along with Zod. We also need Zod to come on here more often. His debates with Bailey and Knockout Artist were legendary.
Yes, I have read most of the thread, and I still stand strong with my point that some fights are bigger than the weight class, just as some fights are bigger than the belts. Fighters make the fights. Jones-Toney was bigger than SMW.. Looking at that fight based on only what they did at SMW seems very narrow minded to me. There is a bigger picture. It was the biggest fight in boxing at the time, no one in their right mind would deny this. I also like to look how people stand up for GGG.. Fighters are hesitant to fight him without a huge paycheck, this same thing was going on with prime Jones Jr, but there was no ESB to talk about it, I am sure we all would have been, but it is a fact that fighters wanted big money to get in the ring with prime Roy. Calzaghe and Eubank are two great fighters that openly admitted it would take huge money to fight prime Roy.
Eubank was also the dominant SMW at one point. You rating Ward for a breif period of domination at a weak time against Calzaghe leftovers and not taking on his top rival at the time, is your opinion, thats fine, but this thread is about resume. Understand that. Resume and Ward does not have the resume of Calzaghe, Ottke, Eubank etc. That may change over time but it will be a long period of time if it does as Ward is still in a time that calzaghe has leftovers in. But RESUME get it? atsch
We are talking fighters winning when injured, which you rate highly when it suits agenda. You call Froch Wards best win because of Ward hurting his hand in the fight, and view it as a greater win than Kessler, when Kessler beat Froch only 2 fights earlier when suffering vision problems, and ignoring how Froch was coming off a win over a MW coming off a loss and a MDec over an old boiled down faded SMW journeyman. Still agenda speaks volume and HoldMyBeer can give you a pat on the back because your arguements suit him
Veit is far greater than Pudwill. Even you should know that. But I think you are basing Veit on todays crop where he would have a good resume, rather than the fighters of yesteryear
