    bailey,

He went up because he'd been beaten twice and lost his titles and his record.

There was nothing to achieve so he took on a new challenge.

He still only weighs a few pounds over his fighting weight.

Because he was established at LHW.

Why would he want to go back to MW, when he'd left the division?

Most fighters move up through the weights as they get older, because it becomes harder for them to make weight.

But there was no evidence of Bernard doing that.

He was still fighting at MW in his 40's, and his walking around weight was only a few pounds over.

It seems obvious to me, that he'd have remained at MW, had he not lost twice to Taylor.

    He'd already been beaten twice.

Why would he have wanted a third fight?

You yourself have been talking about MW's and LHW's.

I've used him as examples because you like him.

    Yes, styles make fights.

It's not a coincidence that Bernard had trouble with Roy, Taylor and Joe.

Right, but you don't think Dawson's win over Bernard was better than Joe's win over him, because Chad beat him four years later.

Yet you rate Joe's win over Bernard, more than Taylor's win over him, even though that was three years later.

Eubank was a far better win than Froch. Remember Froch had lost to a faded Kessler and after that beat a MW coming off a loss and a Mdec over an old faded boiled down SMW journeyman. Froch has gone on to beat Bute, which shows that the era is not overly strong. I think prime Lacy would beat Bute and if you look at prime Lacy, he was faster than Froch, hit every bit as hard, had better footwork, but I dont know if he would have beaten Froch. Eubank that Calzaghe beat, I think would have beaten Froch, Lacy and prime Kessler, but it is all to do with era, hype and who the public knows. Calzaghes win over Reid could be argued as better even though Reid didnt achieve as much, when you consider how Reid looked unfortunate to many against Ottke, easily beat recent WBA SMW champ Magee, who gave Froch a tough close fight before the finish.
I think Calzaghe has 2 greater wins, in Eubank and prime Kessler, then after that I would put Wards win over faded Kessler and then his win over Froch probably, but really Calzaghe sails away with it with wins over Mitchell, Brewer, Lacy, Veit, Reid, Woodhall to name a few. Consider in this era Froch had to beat old faded, boiled down Johnson to get a shot at Ward, in the previous era Sheika had to beat prime Johnson to get a shot at Calzaghe, which shows how recycled the division was after Calzaghe

You are changing what you wrote and you said Roy didnt have weight making issues and I showed you otherwise and now you are trying to alter what you wrote instead of admit to being wrong. Why Loudon?

I told you why. So you think Froch who lost to Kessler is a better win because Froch lost to Kessler. That says it all

If Ward had beaten a guy who was semi-retired, training for a fight at LHW and took an opportunity to fight for a SMW title on a week's notice, hadn't had a good SMW win in years, and never, ever won another professional fight, what your response be?

    Great win. I'm sure.

its good that you have an opinion.

like the popular opinion that prime roy tears calzaghe a hole in the head.

Look at tysons win over Spinks. Look at how if Calzaghe came out of retirement now in his 40s and Ward beat him, it would probably be Wards best win.
What you describe there is almost Wards win over Kessler and you fail to note what Eubank was up against in a massive big punching CW after Calzaghe. Eubank was younger and had been more active than Kessler before they fought Ward and Calzaghe respectively. Eubank wasnt semi retired and even now says without full training he is only a LHW. Consider he had to put weights in his clothes and be fully dressed to appear heavier for CW, but people want to ignore that

wards best win would be 40something calzaghe??? what give me a break, it would be a step down - beating up 40somethings is not wards style.

reminds me of someone elses habit though.

What Froch when he beat G Johnson in order to face Ward?
