I agree. I want Ward to come back and do to SMW and LHW what I thought he was going to do before.

    Absolutely.

I think we can agree here.

But, Roy didn't look slow or like ****, he looked like a big, fast, powerful Roy Jones and had Ruiz caught him at some point in that fight, It would have been a great win. By me anyway. Not speaking for all the deluded fools on here.

You can't always count out a win based solely on the fact that the loser has never fought at that particular weight before.

You have to take many things into consideration. Dawson was rumored to have been knocked out in sparring, and just did not look like himself at SMW vs. Ward. It was not him at his best IMO, and I don't rate the win as highly.

Had Hopkins turned up the gas in the last few rounds vs. Calzaghe and got the dec, it would be a great win in my opinion, regardless of how many times Joe fought at LHW. Joe did not look shot, bloated or slow to me. His power was certainly not what it was, but he developed a unique style, and landed quite a bit of super fast flurries on the ever elusive Hopkins who can make anyone look bad. It would be one of Hopkins' best wins.

I'd agree with all of the above.

The one thing I would add is that I'd classify Ward's win as somewhere between good and very good. Well short of great though. In favor is the fact that Ward truly dominated Dawson, like no one else had. Opposed is the fact that Dawson was obviously not in top form at SMW, is flaky to begin with, and looked like he wanted out very early on. But, he was a quality fighter. The victory would have garnered more credibilty had it not been a one off for Dawson.

I don't always count out a win based on someone never fighting at a weight but I did count out Wards win over Dawson for various reasons like some you have stated. I feel that Ward could have made the move up easier and still would of had a decent chance against Dawson and Ward kinda robbed himself of that.

Hopkins and Calzaghe was close I am happy that they finally fought and would given any outcome respect which I do. Hopkins is still on top and that shows Calzaghe had more skill than a lot of Calzaghe haters realize. I think both fighters were past it and that the doubt people have of Calzaghes skill is uncalled for. Calzaghe might have been a bit insecure about his skills because he could have done more and he didn't. I feel that way with Ward too he can do so much more I just hope he doesn't wait like Calzaghe did til the tail end of his career to make a bigger impact on boxing. It is sad that so many people don't count Hopkins as a good win for Calzaghe.

I'm excited for Hopkins next fight it is not all the time you can see a legend competing and at the age he is. Hopkins is a legend!

I agree with most you said also!

Forgetting Toneys draws and the various journeymen he fought and his run of top contenders at SMW

Yet Eubank felt Thompson 2 was his best performance?

they can when there are 80+ too many of them in boxing
you rely on belts, rather than discredit them, because it serves your purposes - nothing more

when you can let go of the 'euros beat US' argument, and start trying to be credible rather than 'right', then you'll garner much more respect from posters outide of Europe (and some inside) :good

You are so insecure. Belts dont tell the story, the wins do.
Quit flying the flag, as you were made to look silly when doing so recently

you also need to stop getting so defensive (first sentence) and then try to flip your own weaknesses onto other people (flag flying - which is your forte)

why don't you just be more of a grown up?
you're at least in your 30's....

in a fight where he looked scared to pull the trigger this lerading to him taking an absolute beating , manipulation is a wonderful thing

what about joe saying jones was way past his best 4 years before he fought him stating he would not get no credit for beating this version of jones then look what happened

manipulating again i see , if you believe that was eubanks best performance of his carrer then i dont know what to say

i have seen chris in interviews stating his two best performances was watson 2 and the first benn fight

Im not saying I think its Eubanks best performance. Eubank rated it.
Still to go against a massive punching CW world champ and be ahead on points before an injury stoppage, doesnt seem like a bad performance.
Not sure how you think Eubank was afraid to pull the trigger, when he was landing big punches and ahead at the end

How do you think either has a better resume than Calzaghe, Eubank, Ottke etc.
Tell me how far you would have them above S Collins who had wins over Eubank and Benn?
