Heh... I was refering to both fights with Hearns. I was thinking that both were victories for Leonard, but I forgot that the second one was declared a draw :D

Well, according to Wikipedia ;) even Sugar was chivalrous enough to admit that the second fight with Hearns was questionable:

It's class to admit that. And I agree with him. Over 15 he would have taken Hearns out again, though.

Duran's freakish longevity and success from featherweight to middleweight, from Marcel, to Barkley, to Castro, does it for me. He was finally forced into permanent retirement by a car accident, not an opponent, otherwise he might still be active. He came back from defeats and setbacks which should have destroyed him, and did make also-rans of lesser fighters.

SRL achieved mightily within a very condensed active career, but didn't have the staying power of the others.

Duran was a great great fighter...but why no love for Hagler??? He should have beat all three.

He should have utterly annihilated all three.

Sometimes forgotten in Hagler's devastating repulse of Hearns is the fact that Tommy nearly stopped him on cuts. (That would have been a massively controversial travesty, but it doesn't change the fact that the referee halted the proceedings to have it looked at. What if the physician had said to stop it, as happened to Minter when Marv finally won the title?) In the minds of many, Duran got the better of him over the first 12 rounds more than SRL did, despite the fact that Hagler was better against Duran than he was against Ray.

Prior to the match with Leonard, Hagler held up each of his fists at a press conference and said, "These are my judges. This is "K" and this is "O." With that comment, he virtually guaranteed that he'd have to stop Ray to win. Considering how Ray was previously decked and poorly displayed against against fringe welterweight contender Kevin Howard, Marv looked very bad for failing to take him out.

Hagler failed to take Antuofermo out the first time he challenged for the championship. He was fortunate that his defense of Hearns wasn't halted as Minter's defense of him was. He failed to stop Duran, and he failed to stop Leonard. He should have crushed them like Tommy flattened Cuevas and Duran, but didn't. If I come across as a disappointed Hagler fan, I am.

Duran was a lightweight moving up. Roberto did not really have the frame but had some excellent wins and gave Hagler a close battle. The Hearns fight was a freak KO and out of charactor for Roberto...The Leonard 1 fight @ 147 was a great fight with no tarnish and Duran dominated 135 for a long time...When Roberto was in top shape which was rare...he was hard to beat. but his wins over Buchanan, Dejesus,Lampkin,Leonard,Moore,BarkleyCuevas where exceptional
