Based off of another op's question. So that means you could throw Holyfield, Tyson, Povetkin and Muhammed Ali holding down the number one spot.

    Who was the man?

Ali was Olympic champion in 1960 th and had been mentioned in newspapers and showed on TV.
Today there is Ali trophy in WBSS pro boxing tournament.
Ali is not in this world and his name still is well known. Btw this is the name more well known by ppl who are not boxing fans and doesn't follows boxing but other sport news.
    Name wise it is Ali.

There were several heavyweights who have a better resume than Wlad.
As for Lewis, Beating Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson and Vitaly Klitschko matches the top competition of any heavyweight.............................................................other than Joe Louis and Ali.

Mike Tyson was a shot fighter by the time he faced Lewis. Holyfield was past his best. And Vitali was winning before that nasty cut.

Off the top of my head: Mason, Tyson, Bruno, Holyfield x 2, Mercer, Klitschko, Biggs, Morrison, Briggs, Tucker, Tua, Ruddock, Golota, Grant, Akinwande, Mavrovic, McCall, Rahman & Bowe who lost without even stepping in the ring - Lewis’s resume is stacked with quality fighters that would clean up today!

I mean there is Ali and then there is everyone else and it’s not close. So other than Ali, Lewis and Wlad I would say Joe Louis or Evan Fields.

What are people's thoughts on Sam Langford? I'm just starting to learn about the earlier eras. But it seems he has a formidable resume, and neither Johnson nor Dempsey were giving him a fight once Langford found his feet at the weight class.

That nasty cut didn't just appear on vitalis face, Lewis put it there. And if he didn't fight certain guys until they were older it's only cause they were ducking him

Langford was one of the best of all time. In his fight with Johnson at heavyweight, he weighed 156.

He could have stayed at middleweight or even welterweight, he was an immensely courageous small man who fought and beat bigger men.

In my opinion, he's very underrated, and should be in the top 3 P4P of all time.

No heavyweight has a better resume than Ali

    • Ali fought 11 Hall of Famers, more than any other heavyweight
Only Ezzard Charles comes close with 10 Hall of Famers in his resume

    • Ali beat 10 of 11 Hall of Famers, the best record in history
The only Hall of Famer he could not beat was Larry Holmes, and Ali was 38 and ill with Parkinson’s, when he fought Larry.

    • Ali fought 6 undisputed World Champions, and beat them all
Ali fought 9 opponents with some claim on the title, and beat all but Larry Holmes when he was 38 and ill

    • Ali fought 23 fighters in the top 150 as ranked by Boxrec, and beat 22 of them
The only top 150 fighter he could not beat was Larry Holmes, and Ali was 38 and ill with Parkinson’s, when he fought Larry.

    • Ali was 11–0 in rematches,
    Incredible resume.
