Artur Beterbiev has the most chances. If they fight happened right now, I would give 60-40 to Kovalev, but in a year it would be 50-50.

Stevenson stands a puncher chance. He is good in setting traps, where Kovalev appears to be somewhat vulnerable. However, Kovalev is a better boxer with a better chin, so he's most likely to win here. He only doesn't want to underestimate Stevenson's power, but he's to reliable on his one punch.

Ward is a better boxer so he stands a good chance at scoring decision. But he hasn't stepped into Kovalev's division yet. I would like to see him against Jean Pascal before he decides to take on Kovalev.

Beterbiev would be an insane fight.

But Ward is the only one I can confidently say will beat Sergey.

i think only stevenson landing a once in a lifetime punch is the only chance, ward doesn't hit hard enough to stop kovalev stopping him.

    Everyone with Ward and Beterbiev.

First off.....this Mekhontsev is a bit greener than Beterbiev, but is said to possess very similar power and size. NTM, he's a SP, which both Agnew and for his short spell, Caperello, showed Sergey is wide open for the lead L hand.

Seems Sergey gets lazy coming in against SPs.

Now, Agnew tried to use Cping but Caparello actually caught Sergey with a straight shot while Sergey was flatfooted coming in.

He was dropped. Not likely hurt, but Capo is no Egor. :nono

Beterbiev, from what weve seen......has NO OFFENSE from the defensive posture. NONE. Sergey would get him on the back foot and pound away while Beterbiev couldnt do anything but defend.

Ward.....come on guys. This aint 34 yo Kessler who was past prime and outwieghed by 8lbs. Or Froch, 35 yo and outwieghed by 12lbs.

This is a 32 y/o wrecking ball in the prime of all primes, and is just as big as Ward.

ward would be Bronering him as long as Ward lasted. Which wouldnt be much longer than Cleverly or Capo.:nono

Good post. Agree on the beterbiev bit, he can't box on the backfoot or hasn't shown it yet. And kovalev can do that.
I'd give adonis the best chance at luring kovalev in and catching him with a straight left. But kovalev would probably have battered him before he has a clue what to do.
Ward is a victim against kovalev, one sided beatdown.

Kovalev is a far stronger and harder punching beast than Kessler and froch.

The only thing that worries me in a Ward fight is that Main Events might get manhandled in the negotiation table. Kovalev probably won't have a problem going to Oakland but why go to Oakland? Ward will probably get the venue advantage, referee advantage. Main Events has to prevent that from happening. You can't let Ward have it his way.

Ward is the A-Side and SHOULD be the A-Side in negotiations. And it should happen in Oakland. Oracle is one of the best arenas in the United States. :patsch

Ward is not the A-side and you can't allow that cheating MF to have it his way. Killer Kov is going to beat his ass.

    Come on.

Kovalev let Cleverly get picked up off the canvas by the referee.

He relentlessly beat on Pascal in front of his daughter.

Kovalev would EASILY go to Jokeland, for short $$$ and manhandle Ward, the ref, and Bronerize him in front of his 12 fans.:lol::lol:

Was Ward the UNDISPUTED SMW CHAMPION or did he duck the IBF Champion and get lucky Lucy got deer in the headlighted.

Cause last I remember, Kovalev hasnt ducked ANYBODY. He hasnt tried to drain anybody, and he's all but forced his way into your living room.

Ward OTOH, ducked Stevenson as well, while Sergey calls him out twice a week.:lol::lol:

Lol, he wouldn't be no A-Side against Kova.

Kova has been making waves in recent years and brings the numbers, Ward's been mostly forgotten due to his inactivity, his numbers are atrocious and he fights for a ****ty network.

And this isn't even about Ward being the man or anything like that like you could claim with other fighters, if the fight takes place at LHW then Kovalev is the man up there.

HBO won't allow this in Oakland, most likely StubHub or The Forum. That if Haymon doesn't book them first :patsch

Hasn't ducked anyone yet ducked the purse bids twice against Adonis. Okay buddy.

Was the best 168 lb fighter by far and cleaned Froch's clock :nod
Ward was unanimously known to be the #2 p4p fighter when he was still reigning, something Kovalev has never even come close to accomplishing. :hi::hi:
